You think he could be implicated if the claim is fraudulent, even if he's in no way involved?
It's a joint policy in both names, it's highly likely that if the claim is suspected of being fraudulent a marker will be placed on the database for other Insurers and banks etc.
The Insurers might even decide to cancel the policy, in which case it would also mean the OP would need to declare a cancelled policy.0 -

How would insurers know he's not involved? He is an insured on the policy.0 -
Would there be any harm in explaining it to insurance company and letting them decide on best way forward?0

I wouldn't do that.
I would phone up the insurer and tell them that the ex while named on the mortgage is no longer living at the address.
I would then tell the ex that you told the insurer they were no longer living at the address a while ago so their contents haven't been covered from the date they moved out.
If the ex continues to threaten you then make sure everything is written down. Judges are not stupid so they are welcome to go to the small claims court or try and take it out of the divorce settlement.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Update on this, other than advise my solicitor what ex proposed about taking 5k off settlement for value of watch, they lost. I have done nothing more.
I am waiting for the policy to run out (mid June)
After that date it no longer is an issue.
Cheers for all your input.
My solicitor had a good giggle at the thought of a small claims case.

I'm not so sure it will. IF the loss has occurred and IF the ex is covered and IF the loss occurred whilst the policy was in force, then she may still have a claim. But if she's not aware of this, then maybe it will go away. Good luckWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

I think the key thing is here, when was the loss noticed? When did the ex move out? Is personal possesions covered away from home? and to what value?
As ex no longer lives at address, the insurer would most definitely try to wriggle out of such a claim.....Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0
