Hi there... I received one in the post yesterday. So glad I found you good people as I was astounded since I paid for 2 hours and left well under that. I had entered the last half of my reg wrongly, so I presume that's why? Infuriating since I paid for the time I parked.... Shall I ignore them? Or create more paperwork for them by appealing? Hmmm ... Why is this robbery even ALLOWED??

so you paid but entered the wrong reg number, you owe them nothing, take it its excel at stockport, they dont do court so either ignore or appeal and push for a POPLA code0 -
Hi guys...thanks so much for your support....
yes I paid, and you got it...Stockport! So is there any merit in appealing and going thru POPLA?? Am I right in thinking there's no point if I owe them nothing?0 -

I would appeal stating you paid and displayed and if they dont accept this send me a POPLA code, will cost them £27, dont send your ticket (if you still have it) see what they send back, remember excel have been battered in court so tend to avoid.0 -

i do have my ticket...and that sounds like a great response Dave...:TI've been trawling the forum to see if there's any instances like mine (wrong reg mistakenly inputted) but have found nothing so far and my eyes are hurting me now!)0 -

But you don't need a similar instance (we have seen them though, threads where people have made a typo).
- you have a fake PCN as everyone else does, read some other threads, any PPC, all relevant to you:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
- appeal it; maybe saying:
'check your records as I may have made a slight typo but certainly got the first part of my car reg correct, which you will see in your records that day.
I know that you are required by the BPA Code of Practice to make checks to make sure that PCNs are not issued in error - so you should simply be able to make the necessary checks now and you will indeed find my payment. If you cannot then you will of course need to fund the next stage - a POPLA appeal - and I will require you to prove that there was no car reg input that day in that car park similar to mine.
If you cannot check and/or cannot prove either way to POPLA then your systems are as flawed as the whole private parking industry.
I won't be paying this fake PCN anyway so I look forward to hearing that you have cancelled it - or that you are funding a POPLA appeal, the outcome of which I will post on internet forums when I win. There are plenty of BPA Code of Practice breaches I can and will identify with Excel tickets and signs - and they will also be reported to the BPA and DVLA as well as your client the landowner at the Peel Centre, who must already be fed up with all the publicity about Excel at this notorious site.
yours without sincerity'
Or you may prefer a less rude challenge!
But either way, DO NOT just send the same appeal to POPLA as you send to Excel. If you get a POPLA code comeback and we can help you with your POPLA draft appeal so that it will very likely win at Excel's expense.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This is all very comforting and great advice... I will send them a letter but not my ticket, and I'll keep you posted.
Thanks once again :-)0 -
excel are scum, full stop.just back from wembley so not in a good mood,i will patroll there tomorow informing unsuspecting motorists of excell and their SCAMMING tactics, let them challenge me for doing this, they wont ,their staff hide when they see me (cowards of the first degree)they actually hide behind cars, just like they do when putting their loo paper on cars then asking you for your hard earned cash,, long live michael cutts(google him).0

When it gets to POPLA stage make sure you come back and get advice to perfect that appeal so that you win. And when you get their rejection letter, compare the posting date to the Notice date (keep the envelope if different dates).
I found this which is useful to you to include at POPLA:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00zkz1k/features/private-parking
To quote Excel's spokesperson:
''However, we do recognise that motorists may input an incorrect digit(s) of their VR number when purchasing a P&D ticket and as such our processing allows for a manual review/quality check of PCN’s before they are issued.''
''we are committed to delivering high levels of customer service and we can assure you that the instances of poor standards of service experienced by Mr Couzens are very rare indeed.''
Oh yeah??? We shall see!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
