:hello:
I was thinking about you PBS and ATS today and went to check when you were last online. Didn't realise you had started a new diary :O
well now I am subscribed. Had a quick read back, you have done really well over the past year that I haven't read anything, well done guys :j
nice to see things are progressing so well for you.0 -
Thanks everyone for your kind words. It's a week until we find our the pathology of Mum's cancer, her prognosis and how they plan to treat her. Fingers crossed everything is okay.
Last day of my first week in work tomorrow. Everything has gone well! I've managed totally fine. The tiredness and anxiety that I was worried about have NOT materialised, so there is hope that - yes, I CAN do this! To say that I am looking forward to getting paid on the 25th is an understatement! Going to make a mortgage overpayment. How sad is that that I'm excited about that?
ATS has been brilliant. Making me a packed lunch every day and looking after the house and kids two. He's a star, as usual.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746
- Original redemption date: August 2043
- Current redemption date: July 2041
- Debt: £15,930
- Savings: £12,430

So one month completed in my new job. It is going well and I'm really enjoying it so far.
Got paid! :jand because they didn't take any tax it was a very healthy amount too!
Paid £220 into savings, overpaid £200 on the mortgage. Set aside money for all the bills and regular outgoings including travel to work and have £439 left for the month. Don't quote me but I think ATSIJS also has about £200 left too...?
I've just applied for the new Nationwide current account that pays 5% on in credit balances upto £2,500 so I'm going to try and build up the amount in my current account in order to earn interest on it. It's more than my ISA is paying. The big issue here will be avoiding the temptation to dip into it.
So, the plan for the month is.... don't spend any money!:rotfl:
Next month will the first month that I'll know for sure what my final pay is as the tax allowance issue will probably have worked itself out and they'll also have organised my childcare vouchers.
No other news money-wise. My Mum is doing okay. She starts chemo on Monday. Fair to say we're all dreading that...- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

I’ve applied to upgrade my account to a FlexDirect account. It pays 4.89% (after tax) on balances up to £2,500 for a year. Having this feature on my current account will be a real test of my financial maturity, not so much is restraining myself not to dip into the balance, more that doing the ‘financial hokey cokey’ has become something of a ritual. Pay day, money in, move money to joint account for bills, move money to debts/savings/ little overpayment on the mortgage = money left for the month. Now what will need to happen (until I have built the balance up to £2,500 and can mentally treat that as ‘0’) is pay day, money in, move money to joint account for bills = stop. It will be really strange and unfamiliar. Maybe I need to stop seeing as my current account and rather see it as my savings account. I think I’ll try that.
I other news my Mam had her first dose of chemo yesterday, she felt fine afterwards but I wonder what she’ll be like today. She continues to be incredibly brave and upbeat. My Dad is being quite good, but he is getting on her nerves. I’ve got a mystery shop to do tonight and them I’m going to pop by and see them for an hour.
