Unlock Iphone 4 legally but how?
Comments
-
My friend is upgrading and is giving me a iphone 4. She is currently with 02 and im out of contract with orange. Tried martins negotiating tips and reply was simply we cant match that, we`ll go ahead and cancel contract. I have been sent a PUK code by orange, but im not really sure what thats for?
What is the legal way of using my friends iphone 4 but with a different network?
Hope that makes sense.
Just jailbreak it using green poison (which isn't illegal) then unlock it! Will take about 20 mins!0 -

If only it was that easy.
Greenpois0n (or Absinthe as it was better known) was the jailbreak for iOS 5.
The newest jailbreak tool is actually called Evasi0n which works on iOS 6 (up to 6.1.2).
However neither of these offer an unlock on most iphone 4's, the 4s or 5. Ultrasn0w, which was the actual unlocker built into Cydia only works on the older models and basebands.====0 -

Are you sure it was ever locked ?
It was purchased outright at Apple Birmingham, O2 PAYG sim card inserted in store and activated by Apple staff. Been on O2 since then. I thought it was unlocked, that's why I got from an Apple store rather than O2 shop.
Put 3 sim card in, Virgin and Vodafone, all not recognised. Put O2 card in, no problem. Connected to itunes with different sim cards in, did not recognise the phone. So I thought it must be locked. Went through Chat on website and loaded £15 onto account. They did it straight away. Had texts to confirm unlocked. Put 3 sim inside, it recognised it, connected to itunes, recognised phone and synced. Can only conclude that the 3GS was locked to O2 when it came out, even if purchased from Apple, as at that time they were the only carrier that stocked iPhones. It may be different now. I will ask the next time I purchase a new phone if it is sim free.0 -
That sounds as if Apple erred when coding the handset when originally purchased. Not unknown, but rare. All my iPhones (supplied online by Apple direct) were fine and unlocked.0

No, his error was getting a simcard with it, any iPhone sold with sim is going to be locked. He should have bought the phone simfree and got a simcard elsewhere.
I would hazard a guess that all your iPhones were bought without a sim?====0 -
Trust me to get the one. Just my luck!0

I bought my friends iPhone 4 was on vodaphone and I wanted it on 02
My friend called up vodaphone and had it unlocked takes a while though as they were slow about 5 days but it was free where as my local phone shop wanted £35 that was the cheapest I could find.0 -
Reading all the above, Android based handsets simply win hands down in all areas IMHO.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

And you came to that conclusion because contract iphones are locked?
You do realise that some Android handsets are also locked when sold?
Quite a jump of logic, but if you say so.====0 -
Not only that, but the have he record for the most malware, hijacks and a whole host of nasties. I was a late invert, but I'm glad I did. As for Windows Phone, just don't go there!0
