Tony 5101, thanks for your message. When I held the home button down I got a box with a "task manager" button in it and recent things I've used. If I select task manager it says I have 0 active applications. I tried swiping the apps off like you suggested but this doesn't work, unless I'm not doing it right?
I see 238 out of 290 RAM is being used. Should I clear this?0 -
OK - if you go into 'settings' and you should be able to find "applications manager" - go into there and there should be an area of the screen that shows processes running. There'll be a lot that need to run, to make the phone work...but you should be able to scroll down and look at which apps are eating up your RAM. Only long hold the ones that you can identify
Sadly - Facebook, which is probably your most popular app., is a total memory hog.
If 238mb out of 290mb of available RAM is being used, then I think that is why your phone is very slow.0 -
Thanks again Tony 5101. I did what you said and stopped FB running which released some memory but noticed that some memory is eaten up again almost straightaway. I wondered, does this happen when I get a FB notification? Is it possible to put FB on the SD card? I think I read somewhere that it had to go on the phone but I don't understand why.0

Thanks d123 for the advice. I'm not very technically minded...how do I do a factory reset??!
From the help pages for your phoneFind out how to restore the factory settings on your Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.
Press the Menu key
Select Settings
Scroll to and select Privacy
Scroll to and select Factory Data Reset
Select Reset Phone
Select Erase Everything
Another way you can complete this is by entering the code *2767*3855#
The phone will then restart to complete the reset.====0
