I always used to let my kids' friends in the house. There was one little cow who was caught stealing money from me though and she was subsequently banned. Other neighbours had the same problem with her.
I used to wonder at the cheek of some of the other parents though whose kids were never allowed to have mates in the house but expected their kids to spend most of the day at my house.
And when the ice cream man came around, my daughter would hammer on the door with about six mates in tow, asking for an ice cream, so of course I had to buy for the lot of them.
I once asked one kid if she thought perhaps she could ask her own mother for an ice cream. She said "oh no. I'm not allowed to ask for money. My mum says I've got to ask you if I want an ice cream"!!!
