Thanks Jamie. Good point. Can you tell its the first time I've purchased a car myself. Interesting points tho, now wondering if the £7,950 one is priced that way because of interior problems! Doesn't say anything, but it is an exceptionally good price it seems.0

It's not all doom and gloom, it could be priced well to sell, or there are similar priced ones at local garages, so they are being competitive.
Best looking at it and checking the history to be sure.

Hi ,
OK this is the way you have to think on any car deal. PLEASE NOTE PRICES I AM QUOTING ARE SAMPLES as I do not have time to read you email again , sorry just very busy and I like to help.Ok your dad goes this weekend and say straight deal is £8500 he asked you £8300 on a trade in ,that means he gets your car for £200 + he already has about £500 - £1000 on selling it to your dad straight. so if you deal he has the same profit cash but then can make another at least £500 on your car. So if you can afford it do this , buy £8500 STRAIGHT deal then sell you own private and anything over £200 for your car means your up when you sell it. take away the straight price from the price he quoted you and then you really know what he is giving you on your car. I have done this on many an occasion myself when my car is worth only £500 -£1000 and most times they have you car for nothing + cash profit.
One good story is a friend of ours was buying a ford focus they said they were allowing her £1000 on her car , she told me, I bought the car and left a deposit on her behalf for £1000 cheaper than they quoted her in trade in. she sold her car for £800 private so she was £800 better off good luck on you dealing and remember he needs your custom more than you need his car .Fiestas are popular and so plenty of bargains out there if you wait.

I usually get accused of working for CarGiant but I feel the need to show the prices that a large car supermarket will charge.
http://www.cargiant.co.uk/pda/detail.asp?id=591521&mk=Ford&md=Fiesta
£7499 for a 2012 in black, 5 door with the trusted 1.25cc engine, it has highish miles at 17k but was serviced at 15k.
Still has two years of warranty left.
They will offer you bottom book for your Ka though, unlikely more than £200, and you need to add £99 indemnity fee.
Not sure where you are in the country but similar deals are available from Motorpoint or Ford of Winsfords, though I would be inclined to use Motorpoint or CarGiant.
CG has Fiestas for under £7k if you are happy to go a bit older.
But personally if I had a budget of £8k I would take your old Ka to London, do the deal then still have enough of your budget to buy a meal in the West End, a years road tax and all your fuel costs.
Due to the size of Car Supemarkets you usually have to collect the car the next day. A bit of a hastle I know but I lt gives you time to change over your insurance then come back by train to collect it.
Stick your KA, warts and all on eBay with a £300 reserve and hope to get a bit more, the new car will hopefully owe you just over £7k for a one year old car.
Just a thought.
But don't expect to haggle and don't expect the red carpet treatment, thought do expect the stock to change quickly so you need to flexible if the one you wanted has gone before you get there.0
