:T Good to hear all is well. I asked about your browser in an earlier post, reason I asked is that Internet Explorer is more susceptible to viruses/malware. I'm curious if you're using IE and if so, which version?yes, good tip, done that already. Nothing there that I didn't recognise as wanted. But seems Malwarebytes and/or Anvi Smart found the nasty and killed it. Phew! A million thanks again to Ximian, saved my surfing life for now ;-)0

It's not the forums SkimLinks is it? http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/site/skimlinksI was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T0

Yep, quick MWB scan found one (which was the likely culprit) but the full scan found another 4. They are all history now, thank goodness (and thank you)
I am still staggered that I should have contracted this beast whilst shopping via Quidco. Had expected that only promote reputable outfits, but I always learn something new...0 -

Skimlinks aren't active for me since I have been a member before April 2012, and I never activated them.
I also think the links I saw were a lot more idiotic than skimlinks can ever get0 -
You may want to do a system restore to a couple of days before you first noticed you were infected, just to make sure the virus did not leave anything in your registry that will 'reload' it. just type 'system restore' into the 'start search' box on the windows button.Edible geranium0

Glad you've managed to rid yourself of the nasties.
I've never had a problem, but use Malwarebytes quick scan once a month and the full scan, which takes over 2 hours  every 3 or 4.0 -
Bloody hell, how did that happen? I never downloaded anything today, and I have MS Security Essentials on. Not had any virus ever in some 15 years on the Internet....
These problems can arise from software downloads bundled with others. They're deemed semi-legitimate as you often accept/agree to the download/installation and the adware - the terms often buried in the EULA somewhere. You may find anti-malware companies don't detect them on this basis, where as some may detect them as PUP's (Potentially Unwanted Program's).
Give AdwCleaner a run - it targets these kinds of programs .

Right click & "Run as Admin" for vista, win 7/8 or simply double click for XP. Use it's Search button first to see if it finds anything - then delete.0
