That is actually very sensible though, the statistics on young drivers being involved in accidents is disproportionately high & the number of accidents (and fatalities) when there are additional young passengers, is very worrying. :(

In Australia you are forced to display P plates after passing your test. While on red Ps (the first year after passing, assuming you're under a certain age) you can only carry one passenger between the ages of 16 and 21. I always thought that was a good rule.

On P plates you also can't use a mobile in any way (including hands free) and cannot have any alcohol in your blood stream. I think both are great ideas and should be emulated here. Australia has other problems with young drivers but I think all the above rules are sensible.

So 0.0001% of the population even went to hospital for a dog bite. .

Have a quick Google at how to work out a percentage. :)

    for example,
    6 out of 100 is not 0.06%

We seriously considered insisting on P plates and came to the conclusion that there are some stupid drivers in this country who, on seeing someone driving alone on P plates, decide to intimidate them by driving too close/ flashing headlights/ hooting/ overtaking etc. We decided it was safer without them.

The extra restriction on new licences (only allowed 6 points in the first two years of driving and reaching 6 points means a need to retake your test) is hopefully enough of a deterent to encourage safe driving.

A big one for me is no spitting, I see so many people spit on the pavement and it disgusts me! No tv in bedrooms, no 18 rated video games when he was little (might have one or two now but not gory stuff). No horror films. I tried to limit toy guns, I think the occasional one crept in? He hates COD type games now, so no swing the other way there. :D

No sweeteners, absolutely never aspartame. Fizzy drinks/juice/squash only as an occasional treat, and only the good stuff with as little rubbish in as possible. I allowed chocolate fairly early, but didn't give sweets for years.

I'm not happy with him playing at houses with chain smokers (smoking indoors), but if they're a good friend I just try to limit it rather than ban.

At DD's last primary school I used to watch a gang of mothers spitting outside the school gate while waiting for their children. It turned my stomach but I think it might be culturally normal for them.

Yes, they can cause problems too and I don't think I would want them here. In Australia you are required by law to display them (so they are common) but that still leaves you open to being a target for certain people. I passed my test over there, so had Ps, but fortunately never had any problems. I know lots of people who had bad experiences though.

I do think people who have recently passed their test ought not to be allowed to drink anything before driving.

How embarrassing. Yes, you are right. I should have written 0.01% or proportion of 0.0001.

I don't think I'll need to resort to Googling it though.

I assume this is a wind up?

I could only really offend anyone who identifies themselves as a Daily Mail Comedy Stereotype. There can't really be people like that on here? (And if there were they'd hardly be owning up to it).
