Persian cat

Options
Am unsure what to do, i would love to get a persian kitten, but if i do, i would not liek a litter tray in house all the time, my last cat never needed one and i am sure they would smell, i would need to let it out and then it might get pinched, is anyone here got a persian and how do you cope, Do you let it out or keep it in??
TIA

Sounds like you might be better suited to a cuddly toy than a cat.

My kittys (both cross persians) dont go out and we have a litter tray which doesnt smell!! you just need to buy decent cat litter, we use tesco premium, about 4 pound for 18 litres which lasts 2 weeks (clean the tray every week and fill with half a bag). You can also buy litter freshener about 90p a pot lasts about the same 2 weeks.

    Ours doesnt smell, honest!

Also if your buying a persian I recommend you buy something called a "furminator" (try ebay) they arent cheap about 16 quid, its a special brush which helps to stop the cat shedding hair everywhere, we ve bought one and it really does work.

Another thing to bear in mind with persians is that they re good cats for people who work as they sleep most of the day, however we still got 2 as they keep each other company, maybe you could think about doing that to.

Thank you Claire, as i have never had a litter tray only when my kitty was tiny and then he just went out, a lot of ppl tell me they smell, your word is good enough for me my dear, thank you, and yes a pair to keep each other company sounds great.
    Thank you

the zoom groom is also good for brushing - it's a kind of rubber brush that pulls the hair & is very easy to clean
nothing to see here, move along...

asea, we had one of those brushes to but the furminator works a lot better IMO. I was bit sceptical about buying one as they cost so much but honestly its well worthwhile!

Not saying the zoom Groom is no good, each to their own, personally I just find that the furminator stops them shedding almost any hair.

Where are you looking? Try UKclassifieds.co.uk thats where both my lovely kittys were from, one I had to travel for about 20 miles to collect but it was well worthwhile, shes a right cutie!
