O/S daily Tuesday 7th May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Flying visit on way to work and am running late.

Weather is very warm again and was difficult to sleep last night.

Managed our meal out last night, full to the brim with Chinese food and wine for £10 per head :j

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Good morning all,
Beautiful here again. Wm is on so i can hang that out before i go to work. I will probably do another load when i get home. Washing will be up to date then. We are due heavy rain tomorrow.
What started out yesterday with regards to pruning the bushes/hedges ended up in them being chopped down. Hubby has got to try to dig the roots out. We measured how much more space we have and it has given us another 10 feet of garden. We can't afford at the moment to either slab or deck so we will just seed it at some stage, pop some hanging baskets on the side of the garage and make do.
Tea tonight will be fish with new potatoes and salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Still lovely weather here!

All my washing is up to date so I'm focusing on general housework this morning. I've got work this afternoon and then the hairdresser is coming this evening to cut the boys hair.

After doing some gardening yesterday I sat and crocheted in the garden. I managed to overlook the beef joint because I was sat outside and didn't pay attention. It wasn't ruined but I prefer my beef a bit rarer.

Still got lots of beef left so I have frozen those slices, as well as one broccoli, two potatoes and two cabbage family sized portions. Before I OSed I would've left those in my veg drawer until they went off. I seriously need a bigger freezer.

    Morning :hello:

Neighbours had a BBQ yesterday, they offered me a burger, I really wanted one but can't eat it :( I have to see a different dentist tomorrow for an assessment for sedation. I really don't want it (and had made up my mind not to have it) but my regular dentist recommends it. I 100% trust him and had decided before all this treatment started that I will do whatever he says. So that's that. Have had toothache (not actual pain though, just achy) since saturday, my neighbour gave me some Anbesol which is keeping me going. I'm surviving on bananas, cheese spread sandwiches on very soft white bread and cornflakes that have been left to soak in mik for about 10 minutes :D

My tomatoes are about 8" tall, I really should plant them in the greenhouse :D I'll do that this morning. I sowed some old pepper seeds, didn't really expect them to grow but they have, so I'll put those out too.

The chicky girls are giving us 10-12 eggs per day. Penny struggles a bit to jump up onto her perch at night so we made a ladder for her, which she completely ignores, lol.

Second load is in the washing machine and I've cleaned the cooker. I'm hoping to have everything done by 10am so I can sit and make a cushion cover. Very bright ripply stripes, to go in my nook - which I'm busy making things for but haven't actually got the room for :rotfl:

Morning all,off to Faversham today after the school run with DGS.my sis-in-law is picking me up from the garage after I drop my car in for its service .She lives in Faversham so we will probably have a wander around the town before lunch back at her house and a catch-up on news. Then back to pick said DGS up from school this afternoon. The weather looks like its going to be nice and my sis-in-law has a very pretty garden to sit in so I shall enjoy seeing all her efforts in bloom.
Hope everyone has a good day and welcome to Carolbee another new person to add to our happy band :):)
I went to DDs last night for the BBQ but still didn't eat a lot,but it won't harm me as I have enough 'surplus' to keep me going :):):)
    Cheers chums

    Morning all:j:j

Sunny any warm here already this morning:j:j

    Lovely day out yesterday,
We had a great time and the Weather was just great.
The twins had a go at maypole dancing which they enjoyed.

As the place is less than 5 miles away, We have take out a family membership for the place.

It would have cost us £32 to have got In yesterday. That's Just me and my wife. The kids are Under 5 so are free.

But In 2 months time the Kids will be 5 and so would will have pay £8 each to get In.
But you can buy a family Ticket for £42,
Now this is Just to get Into the place for one day.

But you can buy Family membership of the place for £55,
This allows you to Visit the place as many times as you like for free, It also gives you free parking at the place, Which at the moment is a £1 I think, It also then gives you 10% Off in the gift shop' Which is a large place and has many local history books., which I love!
Also the membership Gives you 10% off In any of the food outlets,

And then 10% off any of the special events that they hold.
They hold quite a few of these a year, All local history themed and they do have quite a following,
One of there big ones is a Victorian bonfire Night.

So if we are ever at a lose end, We can now get on a bus and step back In time for a few hours At no more real outlay of many.

The kids love the place. So Do I and my wife so We shall be making use of our pass over the summer.

Looks Like its going to be another warm sunny and even May I say it too hot a day here:D

Living room badly needs tidying up,
I need to get my pea nets up! Still not done this. (Hate the job)

I would also like to get another set of bean Canes up too for my French beans. I decided not to grow runner beans this year. Just claiming french.

So I'm planning on some reading In the sun, I have to admit I do feel worn out a bit after yesterday,
So I shall be talking my Jobs slowly today.

Not a bad nights sleep but I did spend Half of it In my chair,

Well I hope that everyone had a good day yesterday,
Iv not read the thread yet, I shall be off to have a look In a bit at that.

Enjoy your day what ever your up to,

    Enjoy:j:j

How many Hens do you have ?

I have five that are laying, But Iv only been getting 3 a day, Not bad you may think, But there have been quite a few days were Iv only had one, Or two.
Up until the cold and snow started In January, It was normal for me to get 3-4 eggs per day,
the cold put them off, But I would have thought that they would have picked up again by now.??

Two of the hens are coming up to two years old now, And i know they slow down as they get older,
This is what I have put it down too anyway.

My Five Hybrids chicks are doing great! They Seven weeks old now.!

Twelve. And they are all fabulous :D They're aged from 6 months to 4 years. Just checked my spreadsheet (yes I'm a spreadsheet geek, lol) and in December - when we had 10 girls - they laid 2-3 per day. Our best month was about a year ago, we had 13 girls and they laid over 300 eggs.
