macman - I know you're a helpful poster generally, but this tone was unnecessary.
I do spend hours waiting for it to start, to see if what I type is actually going to appear, to comply with the advice given.
    It crashes a lot.
My previous postings of logs have not led to any betterment.
Of course it's not my field in life, but it is my useful tool. I'd like to keep it in good working order, certainly not as at present.

No 'tone' was intended, but you've already been given a lot of advice on this thread, and been asked for more info by some. But your replies do not really address these questions, so it's difficult to assist further.
I'm not even clear which issue is your real concern (slow system, or a toolbar you want removing)? We don't even know what OS you are running, which AV program, how much RAM you have installed, how full your hard drive is, etc etc, which are all fairly fundamental pieces of info if we are to assist you.
If you have worked through the 'Speed Up My Computer' list and no improvement, the the only sensible solution is a Factory Restore or a clean install of your OS. If you are waiting 'hours' for anything to load, then clearly the system is not fit for purpose as it is. Assuming it's not a hardware issue or just inadequate RAM/disk space, that will resolve it.

To get betterment, you need to explain the problem and answer the questions posed clearly, and follow the advice given, or take it to a shop and pay someone to do it.

if your disk isn't corrupt (the messages in post one aren't clear, could be corruption, could be infection), following the speedup sticky should resolve many of your problems, but it can't rectify anything if you don't do any of it.

Without posting any logs, no one here can help you.
