If above fails suggest you do the following and wait for waddler_8 to advise

    Post a DDS log

Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:

    Link

After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:
Double click DDS to run it.
    Click Start
When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:
    DDS.txt
    Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop.

Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)

Have you tried the simple expedient of deleting your browser's history, cookies and cache? Not only will that free up some space but it might possibly get rid of whatever is blocking your site access.

Blue screens can be caused by software problems (usually drivers) or hardware problems eg bad sectors on a hard disk. Knowing the exact message and error code will give the good people on here a clearer indication of the problem.

If you can get it to boot up follow DogMary's advice by downloading and running DDS and posting the results here. That'll give us something to work on. Knowing the specs of your machine will also help.

I think you may have a trogan or virus installed in your system restore, if that is the case your virus checker won't pick it up because the system restore is protected! You need to untick the system restore box then run your virus checker and if anything has imbedded itself into system restore it will get it! Make sure you then put a tick back into the system restore box

Good evening good people - thankyou all yet again.

knarff - your post mirrors what I see when all goes blue. It takes matters into its own hands and runs checks before opening.

I have been out all day, return this evening to find scan from avg still running.
    It has taken many hours.
There were 3112 errors to fix - it said.
It's still slow, but at least it's running - for the moment.

Msg said it couldn't complete the process, but later declared something java was a corrupt file.
I think all that can be repaired has now auto-done so.
After all of this, thought I'd check the Tesco website again before bed, as I do wish to redeem some vouchers. Real disappointment: this is there still -

Thankyou closed, but I don't have time to sit hours with this and don't understand techiespeak anyway.

Back Friday. I'll see if it's still working then.

So why ask for help? You don't have to 'sit with it for hours'. All you have to do is run the program suggested, and then copy and paste the resulting log on here. No 'techiespeak' necessary.
If all you are concerned about is the BT Yahoo toolbar that you have inadvertantly installed, you can simply remove that via Control Panel> Add/Remove programs.
It's not going to magically remove itself on it's own.
