You have to make it special for HER - none of us know her so we can't tell you what to do. Does she love sunrise? sunset? Does she have a special affection for the church her parents married in, or a particular beach she went to as a child, or her grandmother's garden? Ask her some night when she's nearly asleep about her best memory or favourite place(hopefully she'll think you're free associating and you're more likely to get a proper answer at night). Take it from there. If I were her the thing I would love most is that you'd listened to me and thought about what I wanted, not some ideal scenario. This would be true romance.

BTW if she cottons on when you're asking, have a backup eg 'John at work says his favourite place is xx and it got me to thinking' or some such...

Good luck! And it doesn't need to be expensive!

my OH proposed to me on our back step!
he went out and when he got back he knocked at the door, which had me grumbling about forgetting keys, and then i opened door and he was knelt down with a ring box open and asked me to marry him, i said yes, and he had brought my fave wine home , too.. result! (not champers as we were skint in those days too, same as now! but who cares ill still never forget it!)

he had said he was gonna propose on bonfire night and alnother idea was to spell it out wit rose petals ............. but he thought i might freak at the mess, which tbh i probably would have LOL!!!!

    good luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That may be cute, but owning a puppy or kitten is a 15 year-odd commitment and is not something that should be done on the spur of the moment.

How about a cute fluffy stuffed teddy bear/puppy/Bunny rabbit instead:rotfl:

Thanks for all your suggestions. They have been really helpful.

Thinking about a childhood place, she used to go to the beach a lot with her family so this could be a good option.

We've also booked a holiday down to Devon in the next month so that could also be an option....maybe head to the coast, restaurant and stroll across the beach!

  • Or, how about, if she is an animal lover you buy her a little kitten or puppy, and tie the engagement ring around its neck with a ribbon when you present it to her

she will have memories of your engagement for a long time to come then
    :T aahhhh!!!So sweet!!!
