What % of your income goes on your rent/mortgage?

About 28% of take home, 23% if I take my annual tax rebate into account. Would be slightly less if we had a mortgage and weren't renting.0

Approx 29% - renting0

20% of joint income, 32% of my my sole income. Mortgage. After we saved a 50% deposit! Otherwise would have been more like 40% joint or about 66% I've sole wages! Ie impossible!
Suprised how low everyone's is here, would be good to see age too as I expect the percentage to much higher amongst young people. I'm 30 and have the lowest housing costs by a long shot for rent/mortgage. I have friends paying 45/50% and that doesn't seem uncommon!0 -
Mortgage, my half of mortgage = 10% my net take home pay. 14% combined.:eek:Living frugally at 24

Currently renting after selling house while looking for a new one.
Rent is 15% of take home.
Once I find somewhere to buy the mortgage is likely to be 40% of take home.0 -

My accurate figure is 6.6%

Haven't factored in wife's wages ... that would make it a fraction over 4%

I'm 46 and my wife 43 and currently pay 12.6% of net income as mortgage. That will soon rise steeply to around 20% of net pay because we are trading up to a posher house.0 -

If all goes to plan (fingers crossed!) mine will be 32% of take home pay (buying alone). Its high, but figured the first few years would be and I am lucky in that I can work extra when I choose to for extra cash on a month to month basis (not included in above take home pay - and all above board tax-wise!). Im mid 30s.0 -
