If you have the space to get from front to back then hire a 1 ton engine hoist to lift and wheel the bags around

Sounds interesting. I've had a search but can't find any info about this type of equipment.

Any chance someone could provide a link just to give me some idea of what it is ? eg photo

This doesn't seem to dissimilar - work wise - to what I'm doing.

How long did it take you? (in man hours - or person hours if you are pc! :p)
if the bags are 850 kg, plan on 25 barrow loads per bag (34kg)
    • Load 2.5 min
    • wheel 2min
    • tip 1 min
    • wheel 2 min
    • rest 2.5 min
so 6 loads per hour, 4 hours/bag. It it generous timing

Rehearse with an empty wheel barrow and you can tune some of those those timings closer to reality. Plus you could get 50kg in a barrow which will reduce the number of trips.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

    money no object solution

we moved 3 bags recently with a barrow - it took a few hours but it was easy enough. I'm not sure I'd have all the bags delivered consecutively - may be a day or so gap between each delivery.

something like this although it's not cheap to hire & may not be suitable if the ground isn't flat & solid

Some years ago a friend of mine hired a crane to lift some RSJ's over his house from front to back for a rear extension. It wasn't cheap but there was no other way of doing it.

It might be worth investigating the cost and logistics of hiring a crane that can lift each 850kg bag. You would need to ensure that there is room for the crane on the road outside and arrange delivery timings of the bags to suit.

Perhaps there is a supplier that will price you delivery including craning the bags to the rear garden.

A crane won't be cheap but might be worth it for getting the job done in a few hours rather than taking days of manual effort.

It took roughly 30 man hours, but that time included copious rest stops. Also, the stuff was tipped onto tarmac,so it was much easier to fill the barrows than when getting the stuff out of bags. By the way, did you know that you can buy a special short shovel for use with bagged deliveries
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I thought slave labour had been outlawed in this country yrs ago

Do you get them to wash & polish your car for a packet of spangles

Now you are showing your age, the going rate was 2 cars per packet of spangles, 3 if they were acid drops
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
