Need to shift 15 tonnes of Gravel

....will be dropped off at the front of the house in bulk bags over 3 days, needs to be shifted to the back of the house in wheel barrow loads.

On my own it will take forever and I'm not that fit. So........

Question: I need some find some casual labour to help me shift it! Has anyone any ideas where I can hire casual labour on a daily basis?

I've phone a few landscape gardeners but they are not interested as it's just a labouring job.

I moved about 1/3 of that two summers ago, took me a two days and a lot of shovelling. I filled large (manageable) pots and moved them via a sack trolley (by filling loads at a time before moving it then gave me a breather from the shovelling), some went on the front garden but still had a distance to move it and some I had to maneuver down a passage way up a small step round ad sharpish corner and out onto the patio to be dropped down on to the garden.

Hard work but just a case of keeping going and moving a serviceable amount at a time that you can manage.

I am female, not that young (not an OAP either) and fit in as much as I keep myself active!

You could try some local out of work young person that would be willing to put the effort in and pay them for their time (mutual figure agreed in advance) or get the delivery as close as possible to where you need it and then knuckle down to do the job.

outside some wickes and B&Q you will see casual labour milling around but going in and out of your house is at your own risk.

If you do it yourself Dino...a pneumatic tyred wheelbarrow, as much over the wheel as you can, flatten the load , then a big pot of gravel on the top, as forward as possible without it tipping off.
This balances the load, easier to push.

It should be simple if not easy.

First of all, can all the 15 tonne be housed safely and unobstructively to the front of the premises?
If so then you have time on your hands, and even to a none fit man, a ton per day is doable.

Screw the guys that shout black economy, but whenever I have had a situation like this, I have simply put up a sign saying labourer required for*** days.

    Always worked for me

Many thanks to the people that have posted positive comments, I will check those suggestions out.

The gravel has not been ordered yet. When I do order it, the max I can get at the front of the house will be approx 5 tonnes in bulk/jumbo gags (850kg).

I could do it myself over a period of time, but with 3 deliveries of 5 tonnes, I'd prefer to have hired hands to speed things up.
