Yes, the worst thing of all is having an early flight back as you have to go to bed early on your *last night* on holiday.0 -

Just take very very long holidays like we do, the 'problem' is then mitigated. - Next!0 -

Thanks for all your feedback folks.
For the record I love my kids and I enjoy spending time with them..(bob the saver, they don't frighten me either).oddly enough that's why I'm paying to take them on holiday.
My idea of a holiday is to have a nice tranquil relaxing time (from beginning to end, odd as that may sound), by planning so far ahead I'd hoped to access a good flight time slot.
So things happen to upset the apple cart, yes I'll deal with it..obviously.
The flight I booked would have had me back home at 5pm vs the expected 3am version, I wasn't happy about that as yes I can stow my luggage and be a bag lady for a day, yes I can hang around Lanzarote airport on the last Sunday of half term along with the other zillion travellers, from experience I know the food vendors close at 9pm, maybe they will still be open by the time I get checked through, maybe they won't, that will depend on everything running to time which often they do not.
Sadly I can't stay an extra day as there are no Monday flights outbound.
However the good news is that following a complaint letter to first choice, I have been miraculously changed back to my original flight times, that relaxing enjoyable holiday I had hoped for is once more in sight!0 -

I think most people (well certainly me) assumed that your flight time had been changed rather than the fact that they had more than one flight on that date and you had been moved from the one you had booked to another one at a different time....have you checked that they are showing both flights operating or does it look like they have moved the time back to what they first showed it as?0
