Unsolicited goods or not?

That makes more sense if that's what it says. You can see why people question it though.
Doesn't mean they want a freebie. I won't sit on it for six months at all, not without charging them significant storage charges anyway. I've given them notice to pick it up. If they can't be bothered and I'm responsible for it. It needs to be on insurance. It also needs to be on shipping insurance should I move, which is probable.
So I shall invoice them if they don't hurry up and decide what they are going to do0 -

You need to make it clear beforehand if charges are going to become due.
Giving them reasonable notice to remove the goods before any charges become payable.
Also, any charges must bear some relationship to the cost involved.
I.e. you cannot pluck a figure out of the air, as that would be considered an unlawful penalty.
Not sure that even that will work though.0 -
Oh I know all that. I doubt it will work either. They don't seem that bothered about an expensive bit of kit sat in my house.
So if they don't move it. My local charity working with children for learning difficulties will be getting a big Xmas donation this year.0 -

UPDATE
I have received an email from amazon FR. I've been told to keep the camcorder. With their compliments.
Thanks for all your help. If I've been short, it's because I've been out and about in my iPhone. I've learnt something after panicking I'm going to get charged or be held liable.
The kids I help out with are going to have one hell of a donation next week0 -
Good result. Just make sure you keep a copy of that email.0

I'd politely reply stating that you're unwilling to take responsibility in delivering it back to Amazon France and they should arrange for collection via an insured courier of THEIR choice.
When they needed to collect something from me, they insisted on using Yodel. As usual, I waited in all day for yodel to not turn up. In the end it was easier to return the item myself. They refunded me immediately once I'd give them the tracking number.0
