as i have also said before ,,, i was not on the council waiting list, so would have been unable to bid!
i was not on the list as when i went to put my name down, the council told me there was no pont because there were NO 1 bed propertiers,

the HA knew i wasnt on the list and so said that they would ask the council to withdraw the property. the council refused and after bidding closed, nominated a prospective tenant to the HA.
the HA gave this new prospective tenant the CHOICE of whether he wanted the 1 bed that he had bid on, or MY 2 bed.

HR CHOSE my 2 bed, and so i could be offe3red the 1 bed.

why do you find it so difficult to grasp?

or maybe you dont... you just like to be pedantic

So, according to you, the council say not to bother putting your name on the list, which you take as gospel, no argument.

But the SAME council say that they won't reserve a property for you and you're sniffling around like a truffle pig trying to find a way of over-ruling THAT decision.

You don't want to play, but you still want to score the winning goal.

i have explained it many times. but just for you i will state the relevant details.
    1. i heard through my PA that the tenant of the 1 bed was moving. ( this was wrong because they had abandoned the property, but was the reason that there was still some furniture inside)
    2. i phoned the HA who said that they would contact the LA and ask them to withdraw the property. ( this was wednesday AFTER bidding had begun on the monday)
    3. the HA informed me that the council had refused to withdraw the property
    4. the HA told me that they had received the nomination, but that the prospective tenant would like to move into my 2 bed instead of the 1 bed.

    i do totally.
everyone should be obliged to downsize, whether they [ay rent or receive HB.

but to punish people when there are no alternatives, is unfair.

if the government said they were going to put a levy on all cars except those that had 3 wheels ..... and there certainly arent enough 3 wheeled cars to go arounbd ... wouldnt you think that was unfair?
( I know it isnt a tax, but as you say ... everyone that pays their own way already pays a 'tax'... so forcing them to pay a premium for something unavoidable seems similar enough to me)

They do. Those with 3 wheels on their wagon pay less road tax. And they don't need to take a full driving test. So, all those 4 wheeled drivers are, effectively, paying a "wheel tax". You really should try having a brief look at the real world.

so if everyone was told that they would have to pay an additional £14 a week unless their car had 3 wheels ....

it changed slightly from the OP, in regards to my thinking that it was occupied rather than abandoned.
YOU were the one that started confusion with the bidding date.
i said right from the word go that the council refused to withdraw the property ... if it hadnt already gone onto the bidding system then there would have been nothing for the HA to withdraw it from would there?
they would have simply just let me move

It was occupied, tenant moving out, tenant abandoned, empty, HA clearing it, HA working on a Sunday. HA working on a Bank Holiday Monday, keys while repairs ongoing, etc etc etc. If it looks like a fish and smells like a fish, I'll call it "fishy".

who said they worked on a sunday or bank holiday monday?
or are you just assuming to make it suit your puepose ( quite usual)
i have told you the facts as i now know them to be ( i am bored of explaining why i thought the flat was tenanted) the flat was being cleared on th mat which was a friday, not a sunday or bank holiday monday.
    bidding closed on sunday 5th.

i wrongly said the nomination was made the following day, but obviously i was mistaken as it was a bank holiday.
so the HA received the nomination and contacted the prospective tenant on tuesday 8th, offering him my 2 bed property instead.
they contacted me the following morning, i viewed and signed for the new place that afternoon.
apart from clearing the property the only 'work' that needed to be done was to rehang the back gate whicj took about 10 minutes

as a blind person, moving to a place i dont know, and people i dont know would be inappropriate to say the least..
lets permenantly blindfold you and drop you in a place you have no knowledge of and see how easily you would manage

you have experienced new things all your life, I doubt you have lived where you do all your life. what makes those 'new' experiences any different to moving somewhere new now?

is it an effort to be ridiculously inane?

bidding started april 29th. i found out on 2nd may that it had been reclassified. i phoned the HA the same day. 3ed may the HA xontacted the council who refused to withdraw it, bidding closed 5th may.
nominations to the HA on 5th May. phoned the nominated person 6th may. phoned and visited me today.

is that clearer for you now?

    5th May - Sunday.
6th May - Bank Holiday Monday.

Bank holidays may be little more than an inconvenience to you, but for those who work for the HA, I'm sure they represent some valuable free time, away from demanding clients.
