Would be interesting to see their network coverage.

Not really, it runs on Vodafone so would be identical to Lebara in the UK.

I've been monitoring data usage using a free program called 'My Data Manager".

It seems "OS Services" is constantly eating up small amounts of data when I'm not even using my phone. So that's the main culprit.

Dunno if there's a way to stop this.

OS Services is all the stuff mentioned in this thread, data being used by apps updating in the background, email checks etc... etc...

If you can switch background data off and then switch Mobile data off if you're not using it. Turn off A-GPS or any location service apps. Also make sure that google backup is turned off as well. This means that emails won't come through but you won't lose your credit.

Or see if you can find a better deal either from Lebara or another provider in your country who offer a small amount of data for free/a small fee every month.

Just to update. I turned everything off that was possible to turn off and it cut down the data usage - I was easily able to use less than my 1mb allowance a day (mostly just for whatsapp). However OS service use was usually the biggest data user even with all the background and updates shut off.

Now I'm back in the UK and was wondering if should get a UK Lebara sim for the same deal or if there might be anything else out there.
What I like about Lebara is that it's PAYG month by month, I don't want to get any kind for contract as it's unlikely I'll stay in the UK past the summer. And 1mb a day free internet seems pretty good if you're only using instant messenger services. Though yeah, crap for internet use, but that's what wifi is for right?

An Ovivo sim will give you 500MB a month for free.
