Vanishing credit mystery.
Hello everyone! How's life?
Okay, to the point; My phone credit is mysteriously vanishing and I'm just wondering if this kind of thing has happened to anyone else.
Like for example, my balance is 1.24 and then when I check it again the same day it's say 1.17 and so on......
I've currently got a Lebara sim card (PAYG) which supposedly includes 1mb of internet/downloads free a day - which I mainly use just for whatsapp - I almost never use the internet on my phone. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy GT-S6500D and I'm using Android 2.3.6.
I've tried turning stuff off that could possibly be using up data without my knowledge (background stuff) and last night I actually turned packet data off completely.....yet today my balance has still gone down by 0.01 in the last few hours even though I'm currently connected to the internet via home wifi.
I'm clueless as to how that could have happened as I haven't made a call, sent a text or anything else. Is this some kind of con job?
Heeellllllllllllpppppppppppppppp!
Thanks!!!!

Switching from wireless to 3G (due to a poor signal) in a remote location used up my daughter's 1G monthly data allowance overnight? By remote location, I mean downstairs in her room.

1mb is a teeny teeny amount, chances are your phone is using some kind of updates that you're not aware of.
Whatsapp will also use this very very quickly.
Maybe there is a time delay on the credit coming out of your balance, which is why it appears to be happening when you're using the wifi?0 -

Yeah I was trying to go through all the menus and turn stuff off that might be using up my credit.
As for whatsapp, well I rarely chat for hours on end on there. I was trying to find out how much data a message costs, but haven't found a reliable source yet.
I'm guessing around 2 or 3 kb - which in theory should mean a 1mb day allowance should be more than sufficient (until I get a gf, hahaha:D).Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -
I topped up and it's still vanishing. 22c in the last hour.
I've checked pretty much all the settings on my phone and can't see a way of finding out what the hell is using up my credit. Grrrrr!
Does anyone know if there's some kind of free app I can download to my laptop and transfer to my phone to find out?Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -

If you go into the settings section there should be a usage option which will show you which apps etc are using a connection. Certainly is in later android versions.
Remember stuff like email uses data and 1 meg is nothing in some of the emails retailers send out these days.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
http://ovivomobile.com/offer/ovivo-for-phones/ You get 400mb free data a month.0

Is this a UK SIM card? Your above comment suggests it is denominated in a currency other than GBP. If you're roaming in the UK with a Lebara SIM from another country, then your credit will indeed vanish quickly.
No, I'm in the country where I bought the sim. Roaming is turned off.

Maybe that's something to consider if I return to the UK.
Would be interesting to see their network coverage.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -
Do lebara do a data pack of some sort.
As an experiment buy a block of data (Say 100mb) and then see if your credit goes down.
I'm 99% sure that the credit is being eaten away by data charges every time your phone gets an email/updates in the background. And as mentioned above i doubt lebara have a real time balance checker hence the small increments being taken throughout the day.
You might want to consider a plan with more than 1mb. Like others have said above 1mb is quite literally nothing in todays world.0
