Has anyone actually suceeded in using KIES 2 ?
It keeps on freezing - then tells me that my phone (a GT-N7000 - Note v1) is not compatible ...
I never liked KIES 1 - But the new version is awful.
I am currently downloading over 500 Mb update "over the air"

I have the same phone as you and it does "work" but its not very good. 500mb over the air should be ok on wifi.

Just downloaded and installed KIES last night as part of an investigation to get my daughter's Galaxy Ace working again. Installation was an issue - it kept looping round the Hotfix part until I clicked Cancel, and then it seemed to install OK.

Never got to use it in the end - the problem was the battery wasn't charging, so I needed to "shock" it to let it take charge again. (Shock = short out the terminals very briefly).

It appears too much for my PC - P7 Processor with 16Gb ram !!
Which surprises me - and also proves that no thought has gone into the programming !!!
I have uninstalled it....updating my phone over wifi..
very very slowly - must be downloading at about 100kbps !!

    OK - Problems ...

The "over the air" update failed - I am trying again now !!
And KIES 2 is not compatible
My phone keeps on trying to upgrade and is going to eat up my allowance - unless I can somehow get the download to work .....

Ive never managed to get this to work, not sure what was wrong whether the phone, the cable I was using or Kies I dont know as I gave up.

Might give it another attempt soon, its just to update phones firmware.

Kies is such a pain that until it gets fixed I won't be buying another Samsung.

I love my Galaxy S2 but it's not worth the grief when there are other options.

I used to have an iPhone, it just worked. I decided to try something different and got the S2, the phone is great connecting it to the computer is a pain!

My work mobile is an HTC running Windows Mobile 8 and it's a fantastic phone even though it's only a cheap model.

What really did it for me is that I'm a Mac user so expected problems with the Windows phone.

Nope, I connected the phone to the Mac it was detected and I was pointed at a Microsoft web page to download the software for my Mac.

This installed perfectly and my phone syncs effortlessly with the Mac, well done Microsoft and HTC.

My current favourite for the next phone is one of the Nokia Windows phones.

Then don't use KIES. I never needed any additional software installed on my PC to use my Android phone(s). If it's not recognized as USB mass storage device, try Airdroid to transfer data to and from your phone. Or what else is it used for?

I don't use Kies. I do use Airdroid.

However, when you've paid all that money for a phone, I buy my phone outright and have a SIM only contract, I don't expect to have to find out what the best replacement for Kies is.

I expect that for £400+ that it will work and work well.

I have, at last - got KIES to recognise my phone - it has downloaded the file but is now "preparing firmware upgrade components... " and has been for 40minutes
I don't think that KIES is going to work either
