who knows??? What comes to my mind is if the engine area had smoke coming from it who would purchase such car!!
Waiste of tax money.Or did the BBC create it just for the programe.LOL;)

You're not one of the traders featured in the program are you?

New poster, only on this thread. Seems a bit fishy.

Dan Penteado had nothing to do with the report and has had nothing to do with Watchdog or Rouge Traders for a long time.

You seem to be trying to cast aspersions on the integrity of the people involved in the program to divert attention away from the issues.

    Yeah, let's stick to the topic shall we... there are plenty of complaints about United Motors UK of Southall so Watchdog clearly needed to investigate and shame them;

What was the point of linking a car dealer in Southall with a Football club in Kingston, home to Kingstonians & Wimbledon, neither of which are "United"??
And getting young girls to put cardboard footballs on cars, technically illegal.
As for the car, anyone could see it was a pile of junk.

This is clear evidence that most people who buy cars from them are semi-literate.

So the rest of us pay more because you don't?

I hope you are really proud of yourself.

You only need to pay for a TV license if you watch live TV but that's for another thread.

Not sure that is strictly true. And in any event (as you say) irrelevant to this thread.

    Re why pay the trader.
I suspect because until money has changed hands the deal hasn't been completed, and thus they can't then say "And this is the state of...." as it could be claimed that the person/company had not finished doing whatever they were doing (IE the transaction wasn't complete).
So by making the payment they're ensuring that the job/transaction has been completed.

Presumably they also have to pay the trader in order to take the car away and have it inspected by an independent advisor, to verify any of the claims they have. It's exactly the same as what they do with any other trader.

In reply, before we go back on topic.
With today’s technology, you can watch TV on more devices than ever, whenever it suits you best. This means a TV Licence doesn’t just cover you to watch TV at home on a TV set. You can also watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV, through all of these devices:
    • Computers, including laptops and tablets
    • Mobile phones
    • Games consoles
    • Digital boxes, e.g. Freeview, Sky, Virgin, BT Vision
    • DVD/VHS/Blu-ray recorders.
As long as the address where you live is licensed, you’re also covered to watch TV outside your home using any device powered solely by its own internal batteries. This includes your mobile phone, laptop and tablet.
Exception: If you only watch catch-up services online, then you don’t need a licence. For example, you don’t need one to use BBC iPlayer, or ITV player, to catch up on programmes after they have been shown on TV.

    That's being generous :D

For those unfamiliar with the area, Lady Margaret Road is Holy Smoke territory....... maybe that has something to do with the police being there? :o
