O/S Daily Thursday 02 May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all:j:j

    Chilly here this morning,

But I think we will be In for a warm day:T:T

It was lovely here yesterday and I was able to get some good gardening Jobs done,

Most of the Jobs that I wonted to to get done Before I go Into Hospital are now Done.
    Seeds are planted and stuff,
My Wife is not into gardening, And Knows very little about It and plant care, Her thing Is cooking and backing,
So I hope that things don't go to waste while I'm In there. With a bit of luck things will go well and I will not be In there for too long,
Hark at me talking I'm Not even able to get In there yet!
Both my Dad and My FIL do gardening so they will be able to transplant any seeds they need potting on or planting out.

Today I'm Going to put the netting up for my sugar snap peas. Nice little easy Job, But One I hate! I don't like fiddling with the netting, And tieing it off to the fence. Strange I know.

Iv been chatting to a mate from work. And thing Have been picking up there, There has been talk of getting one or two of the old people back that lost there Jobs last year, My name has been talked about, They have only been talking about getting a couple back as temps to start with to see how things pan out, But that could be good news, Trouble is is very bad timing for me! I would hate for the to contact me only to turn around and say no sorry I can not do it,
If they are going to contact me then I think it would be better for them to do It after Iv had my OP and I'm fully better,
Shame really need the dam money! Even a week's pay would really help out and the moment.
Still they might not contact me, Its only being talked about there.
Hoping I can get In get done get better and get back to some sort of Job as Fast as I can to tell you all the truth,

I went too let the cat's out first thing when I got up. Opened the door and the Cats came In!:rotfl: Ooops I had forgot that there were not around last night when I locked the house up. Both tucking into there breakfast now!
I really must try and remember were I leave wife's cats!

Slept well last night, 10:30 bed fell right off as normal, woke 5:15am Not bad, I'm doing well with the sleeping, I think my body has got use to the steroids a bit better,
I have put two stone on In weight, Quite a few of my clothes no longer fit me. I have a belly! (I'm now a self made man:D) Rounded face!
Still as soon as I'm off them It will all drop off over time.

I will have too join one of your Diets with you lot!

Talking about food, Need to bake more bread pudding today, Running out again!.

Well have a great day everyone, I hope that the Sun's out were you are.

    Enjoy

  • Good morning everyone :)

A flying visit as am getting ready for work.

It's my birthday today and I am dreading it after a terrible day at work yesterday, am not sure what else can possibly go wrong. So I will be counting the hours and minutes until DH comes to collect me and I can escape!

No real plans, we are celebrating frugally at the weekend as DD is in the middle of uni exams at the moment. Our usual big treat is a local Chinese restaurant which does a fantastic banquet and wine for £10 per head :j

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Tftm - Happy Birthday - hope you have a great day x

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Bright and sunny with a clear blue sky, no frost overnight, and I forgot to put WM on to wash last night, so load now in, will put it out on the line once it's done, don't have enough for another load - but a mahoosive pile of ironing - so that will be one of today's jobs.

Dinner last night was stew and dumplings, new pots, carrots, LO cauli/broc cheese, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight will be egg, bacon, sausage, LO fried new pots, and beans for the menfolk, I'll have omlette and salad.

Have loads of jobs to do today - so will crack on with those, if I can get most done today, I'm hoping to be able to do some cooking/baking tomorrow - need to pack for going away Sat morning too.

Man came from the flooring and blind company yesterday afternoon, and I've picked the flooring and the blinds I want - he gave me an estimated price but will phone me this morning with a definite price - will confirm that's ok so it can be ordered - once that's fitted the bathroom is finished completely.

    Keep safe and well x

Happy birthday TTFTM. I always take my birthday off work. I hope today isn't too bad there.

I'm at work this afternoon, covering a colleague, I don't usually work Thursdays. I've got an application form to do for a promotion. Everyone above me wants me to have the job, but it's the NHS so the job has to be advertised and recruited properly.

Just planning the BH weekend, We have nothing on. We are going to clear the garage so I can make my proper OS storage facility:rotfl:

I think my brother and SIL will come for dinner one day so we will probably have a barbecue because that's easy and hubby will cook!

    Morning All,

Had a good nights sleep for once, only woke twice:j

Off to get my nails done today they are so long:eek: Also need to go into town to open DGD a savings account that her mother can't touch!:rotfl:
Went to see my elderly Aunt and Uncle yesterday, came away went to catch the bus and realised I'd left my purse indoors. No bus pass, and no money:eek: Luckily I had my phone, so I rang my cab company and they came for me instead:rotfl: Honestly I am getting worse. It was were I said it was, on the table too!

Lovely here today, and we have been promised a good weekend. It is "Jack-in-the-green" on Monday here. Morris Dancers, parade, music and everyone dressed up for Spring:T Also expected are about 50,000 Bikers! Should be a good day.

Had another fasting day yesterday, stood on the scales this morning and have lost 4lb already. This diet really works. I need to get back to it seriously now.

:bdaycake: Timetofacethemusic Have a great day.
    I Believe in saving money!!!:T

    Morning all,

Happy Birthday TTFTM. th_6c6706fbc7508854ac9e7efffe609cca_zps5440083b.jpg have a lovely day Hun x

So glorious day here, very slight ground frost so hubby is out inspecting his veg before work, very concerned you would think they are babies:D
Ds3 has applied for a job at McD's whilst he is at college. If he is to get on with his paramedic course at Uni he needs to be driving and he needs to contribute to the cost at least so fingers crossed.
I feel our middle boy has moved out really. He is always at his gf apartment which is fine, he called yesterday to pick up his maiden, washing basket and washing powder lol he also took his weights. I asked have you moved out then? Answer not officially:eek: I don't mind she is lovely, I've already started making plans for his room:cool: he is child number 3 to move out so I'm kind of used to it.
Have lots of items finishing on eBay this morning and one needs posting today so shall have a stroll across to the post office in the sunshine.
I'm planning an Aldi shop this afternoon as we didn't do one last week other than a few bits. Plus the £5 off runs out today.
Well enough waffle, best get on. Have a good day whatever your up to J x

Welcome Pjran. Nice to have you on board. The more the merrier i say! :) I too have been awake all night. Things going round in my mind. Decisions to be made.... Shall i? Shant I? Those sort of decisions if you know what i mean.:(

Moorhen thanks for the hugs, they are appreciated. Have a (((hug))) in return for being so nice.

Beautiful sunny day here and for the first time this year i am going to peg my washing out. Hubby put the rotary in the shed towards the end of last year but i got him to dig it out last weekend. I dont peg out washing if the weather looks a bit dodgy.

Had another chat with 'Youngest' last night. Instead of making the decision to come out of the job he is training for he is exploring other options in the same field. I'm so relieved as it wont mean he has wasted 12 months college. We'll see.

Hubby is working all bank holiday weekend so me and 'Youngest are going to tackle the garden. Its only been mowed once this year and the grass is getting long. With hubby out of the way i might get 'youngest' to go up the loft to get the remaining stuff out there. Theres a camping toilet sitting up there alongside a water container that we used for the old caravan (20 odd years ago). Neither of them will be used again so they are going. I'll get my family bible down too. It dates back to the late 1800's but i think it deserves a place within the house itself.

Islandman... you cant beat big pants for comfort (even if the site of them blowing on the line is enough to scare the birds away). Joking aside, i hope they do what they are supposed to for you.

    Jobs for today:

    [STRIKE]Kitchen floor[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Vacuum downstairs[/STRIKE]
    Laundry
[STRIKE]Bleach wash the side of the house[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Bathroom[/STRIKE]
Tea will be southern fried chicken, coleslaw and potatoes coated in mayonaise.

    Have a good day all,:)
