Wednesday 1st May 2013 - What Small DFW Things Will You Do Today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:
Morning everyone
Well Im off work poorly today after a night of being up all night and feeling sick as a dog
Happy May everyone, a new month and new start for some!

Isn't that normally my job?
I've not long crawled out of bed! Very late night after a successful marketing trip last night. DH then got up at 2am to go to Glastonbury to celebrate Beltane (1st of May to non-pagans like me :rotfl:) and he clattered about for half an hour before leaving. It was a bit early to get start stitching even my standards so I turned over and woke at 9.45!m
So my efforts so far are minimal:- Fed and watered the chickens
- Checked banking
- Checked for surveys -not too much more before payout
- Checked business e-mails
- Start wedding dress alteration - needs to be done by Friday lunchtime
- Lunch from stores
- Collect DGS present from DD on the way to Mr T's this afternoon
- Buy DGS's present and card from gift budget
- Collect DGD from school and take her to her cousin's birthday tea
- Dinner from DD's stores
- Do some hand quilting tonight
- Have an NSD - money spent from gift budget isn't counted as it's already in a savings account!
Have a great day,

* Swimming with daughter.
* Free cuppa in Waitrose & free magazine.
* Take dog for a walk, she and I both need to lose a few pounds :rotfl:***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
Hope you feel better soon katy_ann
Josiebabie – just like you said – iphone fixed = longer lie
Ziggy – how grown up of your LO – I hope he enjoys himself and you don’t miss him too much
I’m working from home today – getting on with quite a bit in my peace and quiet…
Just realised I forgot to give OH my bus pass so that will be £1.50 unnecessary spend. Oh well.- Found a low-cost vet so hopefully taking the little guy for his booster jab for £20 :T http://www.easipetcare.com/prices/
- Getting booze for weekend away at @ldi – quite a bit cheaper.
- Downloaded free knitting pattern for cardi – friend’s preggers and I’m going to visit in July
- Gave meter readings - eek... but best not to leave it too long and not be able to stay on top of it...

Hi everyone
It's that awkward day where I switch from working nights to working days, so my body clock is all over the place.
Small things today:- Lovely day today, so I've stripped the beds and got washing drying on the line.
- Checked online banking. All 1st of the month dd's have gone out as expected
- Car is in for service/repair again  Neighbour is a mechanic though so will get it done cheaper than taking it to a garage
- Walked to the station then rail pass to work
- Picked up free newspaper to read on the train
- Brought a salad from home for dinner
- Went to the 99p shop in my lunch break to stock up on dog food. 2 different brands but they both show as 2 for 99p, but apparently if you dont buy two of the same brand they charge full price. What is the difference really? Anyway, I swapped them over so I had an even number of each brand, thus holding up the queue.
- Got casserole out of the freezer for tonight's tea
- Charged phones at work
- Free coffee/water at work
- Pop to Aldi on way home from work, and buy only what I need
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -

I know I am biased but he is a lovely little boy, although he says now he is almost 10 (July) he is no longer "little" but he will always be my "little one". He makes me very proud - he is polite, well-mannered and very caring (which is not always a good thing) and he is by no means perfect and his "moments" but I wouldnt change him for the world. He looked so grown up dragging his case up to school and it took him all his time to wave to me from the back seat of the coach, lol.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

Hi DFW-Jedis,
I'm getting used to my new home-based routine and I'm feeling really positive about life. Today I've:
Visited Jobcentre for an appointment. 20 mile round trip. They told me to come back tomorrow because they'd booked me an appointment that was too short! Would they refund my travel today? No, because it's "not their fault"...I was not pleased.
Called Volunteer Centre yesterday and asked for an appointment for today. A man answered the phone and told me to drop by today any time and gave me directions to get there. Went to Volunteer Centre today. Was told "you have to have an appointment, come back next week" and also, rather worryingly, "we don't have any men who answer the phone"....What is going on?!?!
Done Nectar AdPoints. 70% of the way to a £5 Sainsbury's voucher.
OnePoll.
Got a FoodBank voucher through our Housing Association to spend on Friday for three days' food. Housing Association were very helpful, for a change.
Weeded veg patch (again).
Not had the heating on yet today.
Walked through the Glen looking for foraging opportunities. Identified three edible plants, just need to double check on their identity before bringing some home tomorrow. (Link)
Drank water instead of juice all day and home-made wood sorrel tea.
Delivered important letter by hand, saving on price of stamp.
Made crumpets for tomorrow's breakfast, from stores. (Link)
Dinner: pasta and leftovers. Weigh pasta before cooking so as not to make too much.
No snacking between meals.
Look into joining TimeBank. (Link) Does anyone know of an alternative to TimeBank? They don't operate in my area. Found it: Freeshare. (Link)Applied for three jobs.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
