I know what it is like to take a drop in salary, we did this a few years ago and yes it was a "wow".

In our case it was the main earner via redundancy and getting nothing and leaving myself on part time to in effect support then 3 children and the 2 of us.

We had our realisation, the govt won't really help, you are on your own, and realised where we wasted money.

My OH had insurance (but had a clause for VR). We learnt the hard way, we are much more sensible now with money and have saved more in the last 4 years than ever before. More savvy, more aware (in part thanks to this site as had money in zero interest accounts and unaware of tax breaks for pensions etc).

Savings are dangerous things nowadays ESP in the light of Cyprus, that said I did have some which carried me from January of this year to now, well I guess they will last another 6 -10 weeks.

Our mortgage is 4k a month plus Council tax @ £ 3,700.00 a year don't get me started on bills!

I'm staggered at those amounts and can't imagine what kind of house that must be.

You are still talking in the singular don't you share costs?

You may have to really think if your lifestyle is sustainable in the longer term.

I want to know what the girlfriend does where talking about her personal details is prohibited.

    Maybe she works for MI5?

I would support her without question and she would I, Thanks, I too hope it picks up, we all have our respective mortgages.

Your respective mortgages - do you mean that you own more than one property between you?
