    You can't be serious.
The only that you could have done and should have done yesterday was removed the back cover and the battery, then dried the phone.
Usually a bowl of rice and an airing cupboard are recommended for this.

If it's really the water to blame, there is a small chance that it's not late now, but most likely you'll need either a new phone or this one repaired by a professional.

I did not know at the time that there was water on the table and that it had got into the phone

Take the SIM out and put it in a different handset - the handset is probably past redemption.

The sun will do very little, you need to remove the battery and disassemble the phone as far as you can, then put all the bits in the bowl of rice and leave it somewhere warm for a lengthy period. Like 2 or 3 days, not just a few hours.

If you are still using your central heating, put the rice bowl on a dish towel on top of a radiator.

Do i bury the phone and the bits in the rice or do i just lay them on top of the rice ?

As i have already stated it is very important to me that i get my mobile up and running again

Bury it. You can wrap it in thin breathable cloth or kitchen roll if you wish.
However, don't hold your breath and start thinking how to repair or replace it.
