I've noticed that, my IPhone5 on EE (orange not 4gEE) often has no service. Very annoying!!!
This seems to be another problem specific to the iPhone 5. Interestingly, in the relevant thread in Apple's international forum about this, more posts are from EE UK users than from any other network around the world. The common factor seems to be if the SIM card is from a network that supports 4G (regardless of whether the account is permissioned for 4G). For example, with my Orange UK SIM card, under Settings General Mobile Data, I see "Enable LTE" and this problem occurs. When I'm abroad and using another SIM card whose network doesn't support 4G, I see "Enable 3G" instead and the problem doesn't occur.

I too am having dropped calls and poor reception with Orange. I have spent hours on the phone (landline as my phone hardly ever works in my house) speaking to different "advisers" and each one has a different story to tell. I wish I could email my complaints to someone who would actually try to help me. I have heard stories of a signal boost box that Orange can send to customers who have lost their mast due to the link with T mobile but they wont send me one, even though I have offered to pay.
I have been with Orange for 10years + and they don't seem to care that my phone is useless in my home. Why is their customer service so useless; they never ring back even though they promise they will. This has been an on-going saga for months now and I am no further forward. I just can't believe that EE coverage is so rubbish in 2013. They are busy installing 4G and have forgotten their core customers who are living in the dark ages!
Has anyone got a freephone number for Orange that I can use from my landline, or a customer services email address?

Unfortunately that freephone number doesn't work. I was eventually told to redial an 07973 number.

Although it's primarily for sales, it definitely works. You have to try several options before you get through to the right team.
  • Thanks NFH, I used the freephone number that you suggested and then pressed a few wrong numbers and got through to an adviser. The Orange tech team are on my case and will (hopefully) ring me back with a solution.
  • I've conacted Orange about this.
And there said there going to send me a new sim card to see if that will fix the problem.

But when I was on the phone the first time to deal with this problem there was very rude to me and seem not to care.

So I rang up again a few days later and there sound as if there do not care that I am having problems with there network at all.

I tell you this, once my contract runs out I will not go with them again.
And I plan to write to em by recorded delivery with regards to how I felt I was treated as a customer and the kind of problems I've had and others since it became EE.

    It won't make a difference.

Indeed. I don't understand why the networks waste admin and postage on sending out new SIM cards for problems that are clearly nothing to do with the SIM card.
