Does anyone get DLA for depression/anxiety

I have recently had a nervous breakdown and suffer from depression and anxiety, so am on antidepressants, anxiety tablets and tablets for high blood pressure.
My dr has advised me that I could be entitled to DLA for my condition and just wondered if anyone with this condition has claimed it?

you dont get DLA for having a 'condition' but for having care/mobility needs.
what needs do you have that require help?0 -
Also have you had these care/mobility needs for at least 3 (i think it mught be 6) months?
Some people are awarded with those conditions but it depends entirely on the care/mobility needs you personally have and how they affect you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
DLA is not about diagnoses and specific conditions, but about the care and/or mobility needs that arise from them. So, if you have no care and/or mobility needs because of your condition, you're highly unlikely to succeed in a DLA claim.
However, you don't have to be receiving any such help with care/mob in order to qualify.0 -
it's 6 months for PIP.
im not sure if PIP is being trialed in certain areas or has already rolled out nationwide?
maybe someone can amswer that.
if it has rolled out then it wouldnt be DLA that the OP is looking to apply for, but PIP0 -
Well... I would argue it does come down to a small part the diagnosis. The impression I get from the tribunal so far is the diagnosis tells them more what the care needs might be.0

people get awarded DLA even when there has been NO diagnosis.
two people with exactly the same condition, can have completely different needs.
that is why an award is based on the needs and not the diagnosis0 -

Mostly, the diagnosis aids a decision but doesn't make it. It is the actual needs for care and mobility that provides 99% of the decision and you would not get an award for the diagnosis alone.
But if there was a diagnosis of severe depression and anxiety and evidence of repeated serious suicide attempts or serious self harming, an award would very likely be made for care and supervision which would mean an award for care and mobility."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0
