And mine was only stage II so not that advanced. What I got was the minimum radiotherphy doses but still it was an ordeal. I hate to think what those with more advanced/aggressive tumours have to put up with. Of course, the earlier it is caught, the lighter the intervention neeeded. And this doesn't even take into account the danger of metastasis, which increases as the cancer progresses, and cuts the survival rate right down.

I'm sorry if I'm scaring anyone, but if it makes you all more aware and more prepared to go through with screening, then I'll have done good work here.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm sorry you had to go through that.

We shouldn't gamble when it comes to health, I think I should be able next summer to book one.

I have stage M3 cervical cancer.

    It's not much fun.

Go and have a smear test.

Good luck, honey. I hope things improve for you.

I think people were being compassionate, to yourself and others who have not been tested.

I think you may be confusing compassion with a difference of opinions.

In life, you will rarely, if ever get everyone to agree with you.

Have the test and stay well x

I've been lucky. It's just over a year and I look clear. Others haven't had it so easy, which is the reason screening is so important and we are all fortunate that it is so easily available to us.

Very true, I have actually wondered tbh about having a home test done since I got my initial letter, but this isn't an option. I've seen diy kits available online (you send them off) but was advised by a doctor (one of my consultants) not to use these. Waiting isn't to much of an issue for me, I really am low risk (wouldn't want to go into to much detail on that though :o) but even a slight risk is a risk so I will go as soon as I can, and then every three years.

If you are low risk, no need to worry unduly. Just go when you feel better and have the time. xx

Will do :), I hope others (the op mainly) takes on board yours and others advice, it just isn't worth risking your life over a few moments of discomfort.

Why wouldnt you want something that could quite possibly save your life? I dont understand.

Whatever the reason please dont ever slate the NHS for not doing enough to keep British women healthy.
