Well the Sony laptop has arrived. Nephew was completely stunned by it when we gave it to him last week. Hasn't stopped smiling since apparently
Well done to niftydigits for mentioning the backlight on the keyboard. Very impressive. Made me look like the cool aunty
Oh and the HD screen - he liked that for football manager apparently!
He was blown away by the number of free games with windows 8 - I wasn't v happy about the distraction lol but he seems to have resisted.
He says football manager 13 is so fast so he's v happy with that.
He says the keys are much larger & more responsive and better for typing his assignments. He's typed a few assignments up already so is getting to grips with the navigating etc.
Thanks to everyone for the help. Much appreciated xxx0 -
Screen should be Full HD, not just HD. I hope that they have not short changed you.0

Now turning to the printer.
I'd like a printer that is reasonable on the ink . We've all got epsons at the moment as I like the individual inks.
But now I want a printer that will print from iPhone and ipad and the Aniol tablet I've just bought Gma.
It's need to print copy and scan and be wi fi.
Do you have any thoughts on a good printer- actually I need one for nephew and one for grandma.
Or should I post a separate read. The Epson I bought a few weeks ago that said it was for smart phones and tablets and pc's I took back as the reviews on the net were awful! TIA.
Most unis in halls will provide a wired network connection with a very fast speed, and some give wifi too. Use wired where possible as it will always be faster than loads of people on the wifi.
Realistically who's printed stuff from their iPhone?!0
