I was having a good read of the Sony link whilst I waited for your reply. It looks good as its a 17" screen.NiftyDigits wrote: »Look at it this way. The machine sits in between the top two shown there. The first is £880 and the second £650. So £500 is a good price for a SONY. I'm surprised that it's still there. Not too many FULL HD screens on the market at that price.
I don't mind how much it is as you know from my OP. I'm more bothered about buying something that doesn't do what he needs it to do and having to ugrade all the time.
So I just need to go back to my OP and just check this Sony is good enough for all that.
Then do I just buy it from that site or are there any cashback sites etc that do it or not because of it being a clearance item?0 -

It will cover all that he needs. Also remember that you have DSR at your disposal, so he can try it out.

I'm getting overexcited now about buying it tonight lol.
Do I need to act fast and buy now?
I haven't even shown him what I'm thinking so would like a bit of time to check if he's ok with it all!0 -

Thanks for your opinion.

Wallbash posted this on another thread of mine -: Far more important than watching the football on his laptop is the boring subject of laptop theft. One, insure it . Don't just think it will be covered on an existing policy , it won't.
And can I bring to your attention a favorite topic of mine .

This completely free piece of software can reunite the said laptop/ smart phone with its owner , if stolen.
My daughter , was able to give the location of her stolen laptop .........280 miles away , the IP address being used , name of thief ( via email address) and even a picture of him ( via web cam ) sitting using her laptop. Police knocked on his door 2 hours later.
Thief got fined , a criminal record and my daughter got her lap top back .
Preyproject , please spread the word to all , it costs nothing but might be the best bit of software hidden on your laptop.
I feel duty bound to spread the word and put this copy of wallbash's reply to me on another thread about Preyproject just in case others read this thread.0 -

Indeed you can keep looking and if something better turns up or he decides that he prefers the cheaper laptop/24" monitor combination, reject delivery or just return it.0 -
So I've ordered the Sony and await its delivery!
Now onto the printer lol.0 -
I got my daughter an HP 1132 MFP. She only needed B&W. She has found the photocopy facility very handy as the copying allowance was not enough to cover the things she needed.

Although I only mentioned football manager 2013 in my OP, my nephew might want to play a few other games i suspect. Will the Sony I've bought still have some capacity to accommodate a bit of gaming without being too slow etc? Thnx.0
