Although I only mentioned football manager 2013 in my OP, my nephew might want to play a few other games i suspect. Will the Sony I've bought still have some capacity to accommodate a bit of gaming without being too slow etc? Thnx.

It's not a gaming laptop as such. Depends on the game. The DELL may have been a little better for gaming, though not much if at all. But then you lose out in other ways with the DELL.
To get a large screen laptop with a gaming GPU such as the GT 650M and up, you have to pay. There is always a cutback somewhere.

But as an immediate answer to your question, look here
The other answer is for him to play with it when he arrives.

I think that might be why I had in my mind that laptops at around £750 seemed to have what we needed but I didn't really know what I was talking about lol. I'll have a chat with him but he doesn't really play much other than FM but I'll check with him. Can he can test it out though or does that mean you can't send it back under the DSR? Thanks a lot.

You can try it, but keep all of the packaging and leave it in the condition in which you found it.

Well the Sony laptop hasnt arrived yet but I've had the chat with the nephew. He says he doesn't play games except Football Manager 13.
Below are the systems requirements I got off the internet for Football Manager 13.
Is the Sony I bought going to be good enough for it? I suspect it is as I did put Football Manager 13 in my original post.

    OS:
    Windows XP/Vista/W7/W8

    Processor:
    XP : 1.6GHz or Faster
    Vista/W7/W8 : 2.2GHz or Faster
*Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core Family, AMD Athlon

    Memory:
    1GB RAM

    Hard Drive Space:
    2GB

    DVD-Drive:
    4x Speed

    Video Card:
    128MB**
**Supported Chipsets - Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater.
A fully DirectX 9 compliant graphics card is required.
Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer mode and are not supported.
Earlier cards may require the DirectX 9.0 SDK is installed to run the game. This can be downloaded from the following url:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5493F76A-6D37-478D-BA17-28B1CCA4865A&displaylang=en
Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.

    Sound Card:
    DirectX 9.0c compatible

    Directx:
    Version 9.0c (included)

    LAN:
    TCP/IP compliant

    Input:
    Keyboard, Mouse

    Mac Requirements
Intel Processor, OS X 10.6.8/10.7.x/10.8.x or higher, Nvidia Geforce 7300 GT or greater; ATI Radeon X1600 or greater.

Note: The game's performance and/or graphical quality may differ according to your computer's hardware and/or video card. Computers with high-performance hardware will provide the best game performance.

Considering it is only going to be used for browsing the web, typing essays and powerpoint, then the Sony i5 is what you call overkill.

Shame you didn't wait till this weekend, all the retail stores have huge saving going on.
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

Perhaps you can post a better deal from one of the 'huge sales'.

Don't overlook its for his iPhone, itunes, skype phone calls, and sky go so he can watch sky sports - footballs very important to him lol!
Also to catch up on TV progs he's missed.
I do want something that has room for growth as well as I'm good with desktops and adding ram etc but not laptops and he's not living near me as he's at university.
As nifty says have you seen better deal.

It far outstrips the minimum requirements.

    Thanks a lot.
    Now turning to the printer.
I'd like a printer that is reasonable on the ink . We've all got epsons at the moment as I like the individual inks.
But now I want a printer that will print from iPhone and ipad and the Aniol tablet I've just bought Gma.
It's need to print copy and scan and be wi fi.
Do you have any thoughts on a good printer- actually I need one for nephew and one for grandma.
Or should I post a separate read. The Epson I bought a few weeks ago that said it was for smart phones and tablets and pc's I took back as the reviews on the net were awful! TIA.
