AFAIK you are correct, Blackburn suggested as much, but as Criswell says Keep watching the Skys.

I take it that this is only for new customers/ upgraders ?
Because - part of the reason that I upgraded to HD (three months ago) was that F1 HD was included in the package that I currently pay about £35 per month for !!

The old HD pack (£10.25) does not exist for new customers now, if you are a existing HD subscriber and you are a fan of F1 then don't cancel HD, because if you do then the only way to get the F1 channel is to get the Sports pack

That is disgusting - forcing people to pay so much for so little - Sky are going to lose large number of customers on this decision......
So, to watch F1 - We are looking at virtually £50 per month (non-HD !!) and £60 HD ?

I'm more than irked myself. Not all F1 fans are interested in football, not all adults want the kids, and music channels that you get on Entertainment extra.
I think they are shooting themselves in the foot.

It will be back to Five Live for the F1 for me should I downgrade my channel choice.

I closed my account due to these reasons, but seems more and more companies leaning towards this strategy.

To be fair to Sky, it is called Sky Sports. Nothing whatsoever to do with football or cricket or F1 exclusively, it's a collective sports channel.

Although is F1 really a sport?

Certainly is as much as a sport as the old Saturday afternoon wrestling with Kent Walton. Just a shed load more money.

From the OED - "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment:"

So yes - F1 MOST definitely IS a sport !!

There's been far too much movement of prices, content, packages- some of them subtle- with Sky, in the past year, in my view.

18% monthly line rental increase (not subtle!)
    Sky Go Extra
    Entertainment Extra +
    Sky Sports F1

As a Sky customer, I've just been left feeling that (aside from the standard annual inflationary increase, which I expect) I never quite know where I am any longer, except for the feeling that Sky are plotting new methods of making me pay more for the services/content etc. I want, in addition to the traditional annual price rise.

I've switched line rental and broadband from Sky as a consequence, and whilst the alternatives are not so easy for tv, as a sports fan, I do see the arrival of BT Sport, and the fact that they intend to sell directly to Sky customers on the Sky platform, as a positive change that will improve the options available and increase the bargaining power of consumers.

All designed to confuse yer average punter. Thing is, did Sky think that folk'll just carry on regardless? IMO folk'll cancel at the drop of a hat once they cop on to forums such as this one.

I'm all set to cancel once I work on the missus re the F1.
