Why should that annoy you though? It's what hundreds of outbound calls staff do on behalf of Sky every day! :)

No that's fair enough, it's the people who just sit and ring for deals all day that annoy me, literally 75% just call and expect everything to be handed to them with no manners.

    Amen

I'm far more likely to look a bit harder for a suitable deal or better discount for a customer if they are nice rather than rude or aggressive.

At least with Sky you have the option of not subscribing, with the TV receiver itself you have to pay over £12 / month for the BBC TV Tax, whether you watch or listen to the BBC or not.

You don't have to pay if you don't watch live TV.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

What do you think concerns Sky most- their customers' manners or their money?

I'm not advocating rudeness or aggressiveness, but deals/discounts are not gifts bestowed by Sky agents for dispensing to the most likeable customers- they're a mutual agreement between 2 parties for the benefit of the business and the customer.

I accept that human nature is such that a Sky agent might factor a customer's manners in to whether they make an offer, but if a discount is needed to win-back, retain or increase business from that customer, it won't stop Sky from increasing the incentive available further down the line if the customer resists Sky's products/services.

One or two people seem to be under the impression that customers should just meekly accept Sky's published prices or "go away", but I think when a business such as Sky aggressively markets/discounts to its customers to try to further its business interests, then it's fair for its customers to apply similar tactics (politely!) to do the best for themselves.

This gets me too, the no manners bit.

Swearing is, of course unacceptable, but no manners is a 2-way street.

I would consider Sky not honouring a deal (read this forum) or 'forgetting' to cancel (read this forum) ie all the 'cute' tactics as 'no manners'.

Wait 'til you try to get your head around the new Entertainment, Entertainment Extra, and Entertainment Extra + packages.
Sky Sports F1, is longer available with the HD pack , but only as part of the overall Sports package.
If you want HD on Movies and Sports you need Entertainment Extra and an additional £5.25.

    Or something to that effect.

    Go figure.

......and the On Demand content is restricted if you don't have Entertainment Extra.i.e No box sets.

That is simply not true. Sky are completely free to not provide BBC channels. They choose not to offer a suitable service.

I take it that this is only for new customers/ upgraders ?
Because - part of the reason that I upgraded to HD (three months ago) was that F1 HD was included in the package that I currently pay about £35 per month for !!
