I think this is the other side to the coin. If the seller is being unfair, then of course you've got every right to feel aggrieved.

If the seller is being fair and the buyer STILL takes the mickey, thats no good either.

So where should the line be drawn regarding what is fair and unfair? I would suggest that the p+p quoted should be based off the amount the postage and packaging cost the seller. After all its not called postage + packing + handling + transport.

I've seen people trying to include ebay fees in p+p before. Is that fair? I doubt anyone would say it is. But then how is it fair to include other charges? What makes fees so wrong to add to the p+p if other things are ok to add? If you start going out of the widely accepted costs of postage and packaging only being acceptable charges for p+p, you start getting into really grey areas.

Buying something and agreeing to pay the price you see before you, and then moaning about the postage price when it does arrive is taking the utter p1ss if you ask me.

If you don't like the price, don't buy the item!

    Totally agree.

The new breed of Ebayer seem to be a bunch of thickos.

    They think £4 + £1 postage is a better deal than £1 + £3 postage :rotfl:

So you think a seller, knowing all this and who still thinks they have a right to overcharge is being clever?

Personally I don't think trying to save a few pence on FVFs by risking your entire ebay account and future selling shows intelligence at all, quite the opposite. It is hard enough already to keep perfect stars, so why go out intentionally to annoy buyers and risk the lot?

I stand alone then, I think that much of a mark up is unreasonable and seller will be lucky to keep their seller dashboard intact if they make a habit of overcharging.

I think most sellers would keep around the £2.99 -£3.20 mark at tops rather than risk being restricted and getting stung with listing fees in future for being below standard on a private account.

Will you wrap parcels for me?

I'll happily pay you 40p for supplying the packaging materials, wrapping them up and taking them to the post office.

In fact I'd pay you the £1.40 the OP "overcharged" for wrapping them up.

There's more to P&P than just the P you know.

You know I run a business, and looking at the people being banned and having to figt to keep their accounts- I think I'll stick with my business model.

However, I am concerned that you do not understand how to allocate business costs- perhaps you need a new accountant?

I like to make a profit from all my business activities, am I doing something wrong?

Would charging shipping for less than it actually cost impress an accountant?

I never charge more than the cost of the stamp or have free posting.
It keeps it simple for me and all other costs are hidden in the Buy it Now price auctions I mostly use.
    Works for me.

Good for me, I now look for items with high postage charges as I'm more likely to win them at my desired price.

Free postage seems now to only be a tool to get 5* for P&P, as the thickos bid the same amount for the same item whether postage is free or not.

Luckily I made a large profit on those items anyway otherwise I would be out by 2x postage, and they didn't even leave feedback

But ebay themselves state that the costs charged can cover handling as well as the actual postage and packing aspect.
Postage and packing!- Sellers may add a reasonable!postage and packing fee to the final price of their item. A postage and packing fee can cover the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. Postage and packing fees cannot be listed as a percentage of the final sale price

Might impress a marketer if that gets you more bids.
