Where to live near Heathrow?

Places to avoid: areas that are notorious for renting out 'sheds with beds' eg Southall, Hounslow
If you need to save more deposit cash, there will be plenty of LHR workers looking for housemates, which will be cheaper than sole renting and will also get you a bit of a social life start.
Do you know of any website or the like to find people that want housemates?0 -
what about Harrow, Ruislip, Ruislip Manor or Eastcote?0

I'd recommend Ashford or around that area. Nice village feel and not too much going on.
Feltham has a bad rep and you do get a few idiots hanging around outside Mc'D's and the station but tbh you get that most places so don't rent too near that part.
Bedfont area is ok too.
Chuck in some parts of Stanwell which has quite a bit of green land and being parallel to the runways doesn't actually attract much aircraft noise compared to Colnbrook or Poyle for example. Again a few idiots near the small parade of shops sometimes but in general the local plastic police have solved that.
They have quite a few newbuilds going up and also some newish flats that are rented near the Three Crowns pub (Long Lane area) which are within walking distance of the free buses (482, 490 etc) - these are in between T4 and T5 and a 5 minute ride to Hatton Cross.
Heston hasn't been mentioned either but I'd avoid tbh. I used to live in Heston and it was a great place to grow up but now I'd recommend staying away from there. My mum still lives there and it's getting like Southall plus the crime rate seems to have gone up.
If you want to live quite close, then Stanwell (not near the shops), Bedfont, Ashford, Staines are all good places.0 -
Don't touch Stanwell, most of it will be demolished if the new runway is built. It's a good idea to look at future possible expansion plans for LHR..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Otherwise you are stuck using the usual house sharing websites with the normal caveats.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -

Regards,
Slough has it's nice areas and scruffy areas just like everywhere else.
I think you're being a bit hopeful if you expect to find a place for £800pm though. Have you considered house sharing?0 -
Slough's good for links, transport etc and is about 20 mins from Heathrow. The downside is it's not the best town in the world, having said that if you choose Upton park it's like a little oasis of peace and calm with large Victorian houses overlooking a park, 10 mins walk to the town and 15 mins walk to the station and u can get a 1 bed there for £725. I used to own a flat there when u was younger and had no problems, in fact I quite liked living there

I work in West Drayton so just the other side of the roundabout from Heathrow. I live in Burnham and it takes me 20 - 30 mins and I work office hours.
If you wanted to look this way then I would look at Burnham, Taplow or Cippenham (which is better value). I personally wouldn't consider Langley or Slough central. Two areas to never ever go to are Chalvey and Britwell. If you do consider Slough then be careful as Britwell never gets a mention by EAs (they fondly call it North Slough) and Chalvey gets lumped into Slough or Cippenham. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
