Where to live near Heathrow?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thread, so any mods feel free to move it.
I've just managed to get my first "proper" job after graduating and it is based in Heathrow airport.
I'm hoping to buy a house in the area but I will first need to save for the deposit, so in the mean time I am looking for somewhere to rent.
Can anyone recommend anywhere near (~30mins drive) heathrow airport? or anywhere to avoid?
I would probably be looking for a 1 bedroom property for myself and my girlfriend to live in, but I'm not really too sure what average rent prices are and I'm just living at home with mum right now so I've nothing to compare to!
Thanks in advance!

Do you want to be London side or more towards the suburbs?
I lived in Staines for a while, nice town, all amenities and very local to Heathrow.
Would recommend it.0 -
isleworth would be worth a look too (old isleworth is very pricey but the rest is more affordable). whitton too.0

Funnily enough I worked in Isleworth.
If you're a driver the traffic there is (or was 10ish years ago) a complete nightmare during the rush hour.
Nice to live there though (probably a good deal more expensive than Staines)0 -
Thanks for the (very speedy!) replies
I'm not really too fussed about London area or the suburbs whilst renting, whatever is better value for money! I think I would prefer the suburbs to buy once I have enough for a deposit though.
My hours are 8:00-16:00 so I'm not sure if that means I would avoid most of rush hour.
I will definitely have a look around those areas you have suggested, thanks! Is there anywhere in particular you would avoid or has a bad reputation?0 -

haha,
The rush “hour” around the M4/M25/M3 starts around 4am Monday morning and ends sometime around 10pm Friday evening, and it’s fairly busy outside these rush hours as well.
I would really try to live as close as possible, as the commute will be a royal pain.
or consider a train line connection.

Driving around that part of London will be 'mare. I'd look at a flatshare close to Acton Town at £750/pcm mark, walk to Tube and get to work on Piccadilly line plus you can get into central London on the same Tube for R&R.0

Hounslow is very close (think it probably is the closest town) and is a complete dump.
Very high crime and no greenery anywhere.
Avoid like the plague I reckon.0 -
Lots of nice affordable homes around those parts.0

I'd add Acton and Isleworth to the avoid list too personally, from those already mentioned. I'd also avoid Feltham, Hanworth.
I'd rather be Twickenham, Teddington etc way but that is more expensive and traffic is always bad in the whole of this area for commuting - I'd rather have a slightly longer drive or go to work early (or public transport route) though and live in a better albeit bit more expensive area if it will be at all affordable.0 -
Try Colnbrook or Poyle, Both are at the back of the airport, more or less in the countryside except for aircraft noise. Easy commute if you're close enough to catch a free hotel hopper. Remember any 'bus journeys within the airport boundary cost you nothing.0
