I suppose you are expected to send each item separate, BUT, what if you refund them the combined postage difference back through Paypal and the transactions are still separate??!!

No - I think that's a false assumption, nor are you expected to refund postage.

I sell cheap items. I often have buyers using the mobile app buy several at a time in separate transactions. I dread to think what my feedback would be like if I sent them together and didn't refund the extra postage. It's a real faff.

Ok thanks. So in this instance I guess that even though they are separate transactions and separate postage has been paid, it's still ok to send them together.

I do usually refund combined postage or refund the difference if they have paid postage for each item, to avoid bad DSRs, but in this case didn't as the smaller items postage cost was low.

It certainly is, and things only seem to be getting worse for us sellers!

That really is a seperate debate, but, if you're on 20p rate with paypal and someone pays for all items seperately, you loose 20p per item plus the usual percentages. Secondly with the new postal sizes and rates, if I sell you 1 item extra, it could cost double to post so may send seperately anyway.

True, my fault for rushing in and replying! Was just annoyed that it sounds like they are pulling a fast one.

Probably lesson learnt in that they are two separate transactions, but a further question is:-

If a buyer buys more than one item from you and pays for it all (doesn't request combined postage), I suppose you are expected to send each item separate, BUT, what if you refund them the combined postage difference back through Paypal and the transactions are still separate??!!

If a buyer wants combined postage - they should request it before paying.

Once i have sent items - i dont refund postage - even if i send together.

Thats fair enough, I just like to avoid bad DSRs and bad feedback, as it seems like buyers can leave what they like and the seller can't do a thing.
But it makes me wonder how I stand with this case, as they have paid two separate postage costs and I've sent it as one delivery.

A few months ago I had a woman buy a pair of shoes and a necklace from me.

She paid separately, but I sent both things in the same box and did her a small refund for the postage and I messaged her to confirm that the two things would arrive together.

A few days later I got feedback on the shoes, so was far as I was concerned that was the end of it.

About a week later, I got feedback on the necklace, saying that it hadn't been received.

Firstly, I was annoyed to get a message like that in feedback, because that's not the purpose of feedback but that's another issue.

I messaged back I told her to check the packaging for the necklace. She messaged back, very apologetic to say she had it.

Perhaps the OP could message her buyer to enquire if the packaging has been searched for the other item. People don't look that closely, even when they've been told to expect two things in one parcel.

I had 2 claims from one buyer - i defended both by putting the same tracking ID in for both.

Buyer never responded and case went in my favour.

It common sense a seller would not post two parcels to the same person if its cheaper to send togther. But Ebay don't have common sense, so probably treat each seperate.

Thats why i would have just added the tracking and said nothing about the joint sale issue. Ebay staff just glance and decide. Anything too complicated - they just side with the buyer.

I had a woman ask for the postage difference back - or she would leave me negative feedback. I dont explain in length to Ebay anymore. I sent an email to saying she wanted money for good feedback, and i said no. She got a warning, i got the negative removed.

I didn't even get into the issue about postage cost. Ebay need speaking to like you would a child. Maybe not "the nasty wasty woman gave me a big fat red star" - but you get the jist.

Yeah you are right, I will take this stance in the future. I rushed in and replied straight away to the case, as I couldn't believe that they were claiming that they hadn't received it!

Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes....
