No probs, I am definitely mellowing, a year or so ago it was still my intention to dance on his grave and announce his short comings to any of his family at his funeral - now I'd let them grieve in their ignoranceI am also determined not to fall out with any other family, even being pleasant to my pain of a brother and his wife as life is too short.:p

I haven't had any contact with my mum for nearly 10 years, which is a long time considering I'll be 28 this year. It's not something I dwell on either, I've long made peace with the fact that she wasn't interested when I was trying to fix things.
But I do wonder if that will change if something were to happen to her. I suppose it's one of things that you'll never know how you'll feel until it actually happened. It feels like too much water has passed under the bridge to sort it now.
Hope you had a lovely evening with hubby homexx
I haven't seen my dad since I was 16, very difficult relationship due to abuse of my mum. I don't ever want a relationship with him and am not in contact now with anyone who would inform me if/when he dies. To be honest I think that's better for me I wouldn't want to be in the position of having to choose whether to visit him if he was ill, I don't feel as much hatred towards him as I used to but can never forgive him.
so it's not just me
one thing though. It certainly does make you think about how you bring your own children up and what sort of relationship you have with them. I like to think the good thing Thats come out of my situation is that I learned how NOT to treat my kids0 -

Very emotive thread tonight, I am a little misty eyes about it all so I think I will send a great big hug to everyone.
On a happy 4p note I ventured to Pitsea tonight and got two pairs of boots an a pair of shoes, had my money ready and bagged them quick.
I find that most of the shoes/boots that have aw12 on them are 4p.
I also had a minor trouting just after that when I joined my hubby who was doing the grocery shop.
The troutlet (only v young), refused my Ariel stain remover voucher as it was for more than the product and I even asked her to reduce the amount and she refused:(
Never mind the boots are a real bargain and more than made up for it.0 -

As in there is falling out over I don't know something trivial and falling out over what your mam had.
