How does a PhD make you a better worker than someone without one?

Phil you are one of the youngsters that fell hook, line and sinker for the tale put out by Tony Blair and co. that a degree was a passport to a well paid job. It used to be because only a very small percentage of people had a degree but it is not true anymore.
There are lots of people leaving university working in places that they could have been working in three years earlier and would not have amassed a student loan.0 -

Maybe so, but I am not going sit at the bottom on 10k a year. No way, I can not afford to earn that little.
Most other people who leave uni get good careers so so am I.:beer:0 -

Phil, you can't cope with changing a £20 note. How on earth could you cope with £10 grand? :rolleyes:0 -
A PhD shows preparation:
- intellectual ability
- persistence and determination
- planning and executive abilities
- relevant knowledge
I think it's shameful that a University student as you are (allegedly), should even ask such a silly question.
CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO READ THROUGH ALL THIS DRIVEL, BUT HAS ANYONE POINTED OUT WHY PHIL STARTED THIS THREAD [FOR THOSE NOT WARE OF IT], HE COULD WIN AN ARGUEMENT ON A THREAD HE SHAMELESSLY AND SELFISHLY HIJACKED, SO STARTED ANOTHER ONE.

Haha, I am not going to be the only graduate in the Uk stuck in a dead end job in poverty with no life. Everyone else gets good jobs so I am not going to be the odd one out!:beer:0 -

My doctorate didn't cost a penny (thanks research council!), AND I got to go to Oxford, so whether it was 'worth it' or not, I wouldn't change it at all, for everything it taught and gave me... Experiences that some one from my background often do not get to sample... And I met Mr Fluffy. He is my lobster (odd Friends quote!)!April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -

Oi you penile growth, you're talking rubbish as usual. Is it possible that you can ring all the other people who use the stupidphil username and have a natter about what to talk about on here before you make an even bigger n0b of yourself? This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0 -

Sure I get as bitter as hell. Everyone else seems to be able to get onto PhDs and Masters, get good jobs and jobs with big companies, but yet I can not get anything. So I have sure as hell a lot of right to be bitter when I hae battled and tried just as much as anyone else.:beer:0 -

What you mean is you're jealous??? Jealous because somebody has achieved something and created a thread where she was congratulated. You hijacked it for your own selfish reasons and to do nothing more than try to be the centre of attention because we should all feel sorry for stupidphil. Somebody who constantly whines as thought he was dealt a bad hand at birth and has struggled ever since. Forget all the people on here who have REAL problems. Just think about phil the f****g failure and how he feels when somebody gets congratulated for being a success. You're pathetic Phil, you really are. This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0
