How does a PhD make you a better worker than someone without one?

PhD-dominated world? :rotfl: Oh, hang on... you've never left college... I see.
You can try all you like, Phil, but merely making statements with no evidence is not going to get you anywhere in life.
It is true that in higher education PhDers often have the top jobs and not just in academic jobs. So if you are going to get on and have a career in HE with just a first degree it is vital to work out to beat all these masters and PhD holders that have many of the decent jobs.:beer:0 -

In that case, why don't you try and publish a paper in a high impact, peer reviewed journal?
That usually sorts the men out from the boys.de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0 -
Is there any way to get threads locked when the OP posts too many stupid comments? Really, phil, you're just about to graduate, you can't aim to compete in the jobs market with people who have PhDs, especially if you aren't a 'top class' student
If it makes you feel happier, most people i've met with PhDs are quite socially inept.. you'll probably get on with them!0 -
How many times are you going to start threads along these lines Phil?
It's getting extremely tedious now. Perhaps you should go back and read past comments if you need advice instead of going over the same things over and over again.:heart2: Some call it stalking, I call it love:heart2:

Not today, but in 2 or 3 years time I can aim to beat them for jobs. So that means working out what I need to develop in that time to do it.:beer:0 -

I think it shows phil is out of his depth.

You're not telling me this thread has influenced you ??
Are you so fickle ??
Forget about beating Phd'ers, get on with what YOU want to do.
Get your Degree, get a job, get experience, all the time learning what you want to do next & aim for, enjoy & have fun while you're doing it.

A PhD shows preparation:
- intellectual ability
- persistence and determination
- planning and executive abilities
- relevant knowledge
I think it's shameful that a University student as you are (allegedly), should even ask such a silly question.[/quote]
Well said Q! And I think it's shameful Phil, that you have started a thread on this just because you didn't get the answers you wanted when you hijacked other people's.:rolleyes:0 -

Try a portfolio of first author publications, a record of successful funding applications, ongoing collaborative projects, and representation at national level on relevant committees.
... and the personality that you'll need to get the above done.

Good luck.
Thanks, but I am not going after these PhDs in academic jobs but rather ones in management jobs.:beer:0
