Part of the scam to build confidence and delay the negs, the volume of f/b received for items worth more than £3 was a handful in comparison to the several thousand items sold (nearly 3000 completed listings, most sold and at QTY of more than 1) in just over a week or so, I've watched this scam (with DVDs) happen 12 times now over the past 5 years. The toys scam was exactly the same set up.

The DVDs offered simply can not be sold at that price on mass across various studios, even the 2 sellers closely tied to one of largest wholesalers using fulfilment on tiny, tiny margins are not that low on price, in fact no one is which is why so much was sold so quickly.

So first you get good FB off £3 items:

Then go for it with the more expensive ones?

Yeap that's the same person:( the lustformusice ID started off with a load of Notebook DVDs at 2.99 as well (very popular title that will sell all day long at 2.99).

The price is the main give away, for example they have a neg for Merlin series 3 priced £11.29, the lowest you could buy that recently was £8 plus VAT (and I think it was a pricing error due to the way a supplier's site was programed), compare with big retailers and you have Base.com at £13 (avoiding VAT through Switzerland) and then Amazon at £14.75. The likes of Zavvi might buy thousands of the same title and possibly ship them via Chicago to avoid the VAT and cut their margin to pennies a sale to get to the £10 mark but your average eBayer that's just popped up with a range priced like that across many various studios, no chance.

    Dropshippers do all the work.

They hold the stock and ship it out on your behalf.

The ebayer is the one taking a cut for doing nothing.
Sorry, I have to disagree: The dropshipper neither stocks nor ships the items. They simply sell someone else's items at a greater price to a third party and provide the 3rd party's address to the seller.

In effect, they add to the cost for the buyer, reduce the profit for the seller and therefore it is beneficial for both buyer and seller to keep any intermediary dropshipper well clear of their transactions.
