CAN my single parent daughter get help moving - down grading from 3 to 2bedrooms

If you use a man and van you wouldn't normally expect to be lugging things yourself, anymore than with a professional removal company.
I forgot.
This may be a little pedantic. It's probably still worth saying. Some things can't be moved by one person. Some things are difficult to pack. Good man-and-van companies do offer all the relevant options. A man and a van may not.0 -
my neighbour was given £1,000 incentive to down size from a 3 bed to a 1 bed house but that was 2 years ago0

My reply was perfectly polite and of an appropriate tone; you're reading things into it because of your personal feelings. To suggest that it went against site rules is risible.
but you really dont know what youre talking about. a man with a van will cos apptox £100. that is a whgole weeks income for many, and few could have it to hand.
you speak from a perspective of someone that has a suffivient income. regardless of if you mean to belittle other people ... the outconme is the same0 -
Which local authority is that? Also, a lot of local authorities don't offer anything, so it is inaccurate to state that each local authority offers different incentives, unless you count no incentive at all as an incentive.
Mine also offers an incentive and I suspect a lot more will begin to, given the changes. No harm in asking.0 -
my council has no 1 bed properties and so offers no incentives.
they dintlose because the underoccupiers have to make up the difference. but we have no choice because there is no alternative0 -

Emmasgirl. As previous posters have said it varies from area to area.
Is there a local Buy and Swap page for your area? When my dd was moving recently, she found a chappy on there, who moved all her big stuff (didn't have too much though) for around £40. Double bed, fridge freezer, corner sofas, table, chairs, TVs, TV Cabinets etc. She was lucky that her new place had a new cooker fitted, the washing machine came with the house, had all fitted wardrobes, so there was a lot she didn't need to take with her.
The rest of her things we took by car. Took about half a dozen trips but, saved a lot of money
4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Nothing in my area unless you're downsizing by 2 rooms or more.
When I downsized I hired a Luton van £50 plus diesel and my family did all the heavy lifting. If it weren't for them I couldn't have managed to move. Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass

We've had vans for £120 a week, which whilst I appreciate may not be readily available, it's certainly cheaper than most removal services. I use this company, but there should be a local company to you that can provide a van. 2-3 loads in a Trafic will remove a 3 bedroom house with relevant ease, but a word of warning is not to use the large franchises, as they're far too expensive.

Everyone has a choice - you could rent privately, you could go into a house share, you could take in a lodger.0
