Cheap dates

Wow, I'd turn on my heels if you took me to one of those hideous places! Ikea is torture.
:rotfl:Each to his own!
What I like about Ikea is the way they have all the room sets that give you ideas especially for storage. I wasn't sure whether OP and her partner were planning/had their own home.0 -
You've had a lot of great suggestions here
At the weekend we tend to do something active together, like a bike ride, a run or even just a long walk. We pick a nice route and, as we live a fair distance from each other, whoever is familiar with the area will give the other a little guided tour. Or if it's an area neither of us are familiar with it feels more of an adventure!
When we get home we usually do something like baking or making a nice meal, and enjoy that nice satisfied feeling you get when you feel as though you earned it.0 -
Must admit, the idea of a cheap date for me is an evening in bed.
However, you might not have got to that stage yet.:)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I live by the coast and every friday evening in the summer a tribute act plays at the bandstand along the seafront. You have to pick and choose as some are awful and cheesy but others are brilliant.
The beach is packed with people listening in for free, having picnics and barbeques. It is quite a fun way to spend an evening and very cooling if it has been a hot dayThe best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
Love the idea of walking along the beach hand in hand.:(This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

So many good ideas.
Beach hitting the volleyball between two of you.
A pack of cards , a bottle of wine, one packet of tortilla chips and one packet of pistachiosThe word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
My daughter and her husband-to-be are saving like mad to get married next summer so not much money left for treats, they go swimming alot which is a cheap way to spend time together and keep fit.0

What about the 2 for 1 garden card in Gardeners World a la Martins e mail? Open gardens coming up too. Maybe ask on local money saving as someone might know of freebies that you haven't come across. I seem to always find free stuff to do. Do you get any magazines through the door that advertise societies or groups? xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I hope you mean re-enactment!0 -
Thanks for all the ideas - some of them are brilliant.
We've only been seeing each other a few weeks and while we do have a nice time together, I don't just want to fall into a same-old-same-old routine just yet. Should be easier to get out and about more now Spring is here and all the events start up.
I suppose I do miss just being able to go out for a meal or something on a whim, just a bit, at that early fun 'dating' stage. Still, freebie/cheap stuff is also good, we just need to use our imaginations a bit more.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex.
