Me and new bloke both skint. Got any good ideas for cheap/free dates? Say up to around tenner a go for the two of us?
We do the
stay at home with DVD
go for walk in country
go for a walk at coast
go to pub for a couple of drinks
go to pub for couple of drinks and spin them out while pub band is on
cheap £5 a ticket night at cinema
Meet up for lunchtime coffee
There's no free museums/galleries near us.
It's getting a bit samey...
What do you do? Any suggestions?

This sounds really sad but when I was younger my bf and I used to jump on the 'circular' bus with our YTS-funded bus passes and sit near the back holding hands and spend our time chatting, watching the scenery and people-watching.
I'd love to do that again (not with him!)!
Why not catch one of the country buses so you've got some lovely scenery to look at?0 -
hire a badminton court for an hour
golf driving range/pitch and put
sauna in local leisure centre
cycling/cycle hire
fishing if near the sea
play snooker/pool in a club (well one game anyway)
join a pub quiz night - usually free and you might win something!

all rather depends what both people are into as the one doing the asking out wants to impress, at least one would hope so, dvd at home - no no no not a proper date imho.
Picnic in the park, or by a river or canal can be romantic and not too costly with cheese, french bread, fruit and wine if that is your thing £10 could cover that easily. get two for one deal on the pictures, splash out on their favorite chocolate bar at the supermarket and give to them once inside.
Or a stroll by the sea, a bag of 2pences and pennies for some of those machines in a shower and fish n chips out of the paper on the beach or under the sheltered seats on the prom around £15 with out travel
all make good memories and excuse to hold handsI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
You say no museums or galleries near you but loads of areas now do open studio type things - we are just coming up to the right time of year for it.
If you have a tourist information centre near to you go in and try o look at your area through tourist eyes - pick up leaflets or ask the people there for low cost ideas - it's amazing what you never go and see because 'it's always been there'.0 -
You could have a good day out with one of those Rover type bus tickets and take a picnic or buy fish & chips.
What about inviting people round for a meal. Cheap way to socialise.0 -
M&S meal for two for £10.
or cook a meal from scratch together (£10 will go a long way!)
When my OH worked shifts, we used to plan sofa dates - TV off, bottle of wine open, and TALK. You have to make it a bit special - tidy the room, get changed, bit of lippy on, just as you would for a 'real' date.
In the summer - disposable bbq, sausages, bread buns, etc.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Years ago when very pregnant and very broke my OH and I caught a bus from West Croydon out to the Surrey countryside and just walked unil we came to a village where they were playing cricket. We sat and watched the match, and had a lovely afternoon. When my OH asked at the clubhouse if I could have a drink of water (yes we really were that broke) the lady who brought it out said 'Oh you look hot dear would you like a cuppa'.I said 'no its all right water will do'.She went back in to the clubhouse and reappeared 10 minutes later with a tray with tea and several sarnies on it and some fruit cake.I said 'I'm sorry we can't afford to pay we only have enough for the bus back to Croydon'.She said not to worry as they always made far too much and she said 'I bet the baby is peckish even if your not'
:);) Bless her I have never forgotten that kind lady from back in the summer of 1967.After we had finished my OH took the tray back and thanked her and she said not a problem and if we wanted a lift back into Croydon she was going that way to visit her sister. She dropped us off at the bus station and we went back to our flat after a smashing day out.It was August Bank Holiday Monday and we literally had very little cash until OH got paid on the Friday. 2 months later my DD was born and to this day I remember our day out watching a small village team play cricket and how hot it was and how delicious that cuppa was.One of my lovely memories from life with my late OH. Our finances did improve over the years, but being broke doesn't mean that you can't enjoy just being together in the sun and grow memories of your own to keep when you get old and grey

See if there are any stately homes near you with big grounds. It usually costs to go inside, but you can usually sit outside with a picnic or walk around the grounds for free.
Try going to nearby rural areas for walks
See if there are local cafes that you can visit for hot chocolate, ice cream etc.
Do some baking or cooking together. try something you've never made before, or something that is long and involved, or do a theme night
Get on the train and go to a nearby place you've never been. My OH and I like going to the CS in a nearby very posh area. He likes the books and I like all of the other stuff. I realize this might not be to everyone's taste:rotfl: Window shopping could also work.0 -

If you have an Ikea near you they're good for browsing and getting ideas for the home.
Ikea restaurants have good, cheap meals. In the mornings you can have refillable hot drinks which if you have one of their (free) family cards are free.0 -
Go for a long walk in the country with a picnic and see if there is anything to forage, this was what we did when the children were little then when we got home we made lots of treats/meals made from what we found.
Take up a hobby together such as beer or wine making
Our Cineworld (Well in the next town) has cheap Tuesday viewing £6 a ticket £5.40 before 1pm
Our town has regular functions like music concerts, collectable cars, civil war enactment and jousting, yes there are stalls of all kinds, entry is free just take a picnic and you won't have to spend much, check out your local council web site, it will have all the information on there.
Go for a walk along a canal tow path or a river again with a picnic and you will usually find a pub so that you can have a quiet drinkBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
