Cheap dates

The longer you're together, the less need there should be to "do" something together. Don't get me wrong, "date nights" and together-time are always important but if just spending time together isn't enough without some form of external stimulation it could be sign that this one is meant to work out. Weekday evenings in front of the TV and a trip out at weekend to a nearby town that has free-touristy stuff to do or any of the other great suggestions on here will soon be the norm!0

Take it in turns to cook for a date night at home
Any local friends / family members / neighbours in need with a dog you can walk?
Dress up and go out for a nice cocktail (and a cheeky pre drink at home!)
Picnic, different spot every time
Watch local amateur sports teams play (love you story JackieO!)
I can't really think of anything else...our social life is restricted by young children! We have BBQs for dinner whenever the sun is out and always love to cook. We also have "Youtube parties" where we take it in turns to pick a song, one song always leads to another and lots of memories / stories etc. Much more fun than sitting in front of a film I think! It's usually coupled with a few beers mind...____________________________________________

Get a frisbee or a kite? Juggling balls or even a cheap badminton set and have a scratch game?
Exchange massages (agree beforehand if they could go further or not and stick to it).
Forage (right now the wild garlic, ramsons are out in a lot of woods).
Read aloud to each other, chapter a night?
Soup, rolls picnic to extend your current walks? Spend time together learning about the birds, butterflies (if they ever arrive) that are along the way.
Explore local markets particularly on junk/craft days (you do have to buy anything).
As BB says, check the local TICs for free events over the summer in local towns. Concerts, street theatre, Morris men, local festivals? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

I'd love to do that again (not with him!)!
Why not catch one of the country buses so you've got some lovely scenery to look at?
So pleased you posted this as I thought it was just me! Supersaver they where called by us and you could use the trains as well. Fab!Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Now that you've had some input from the Old Stylers I've moved your thread over to the relationships board.

Years ago when very pregnant and very broke my OH and I caught a bus from West Croydon out to the Surrey countryside and just walked unil we came to a village where they were playing cricket. We sat and watched the match, and had a lovely afternoon. When my OH asked at the clubhouse if I could have a drink of water (yes we really were that broke) the lady who brought it out said 'Oh you look hot dear would you like a cuppa'.I said 'no its all right water will do'.She went back in to the clubhouse and reappeared 10 minutes later with a tray with tea and several sarnies on it and some fruit cake.I said 'I'm sorry we can't afford to pay we only have enough for the bus back to Croydon'.She said not to worry as they always made far too much and she said 'I bet the baby is peckish even if your not'
:);) Bless her I have never forgotten that kind lady from back in the summer of 1967.After we had finished my OH took the tray back and thanked her and she said not a problem and if we wanted a lift back into Croydon she was going that way to visit her sister. She dropped us off at the bus station and we went back to our flat after a smashing day out.It was August Bank Holiday Monday and we literally had very little cash until OH got paid on the Friday. 2 months later my DD was born and to this day I remember our day out watching a small village team play cricket and how hot it was and how delicious that cuppa was.One of my lovely memories from life with my late OH. Our finances did improve over the years, but being broke doesn't mean that you can't enjoy just being together in the sun and grow memories of your own to keep when you get old and grey
I don't know if it's just 'cause I'm pregnant and overly emotional but that's such a touching story - tear in the eye moment in work here :rotfl:My Debt Free Diary

If you have an Ikea near you they're good for browsing and getting ideas for the home.
Ikea restaurants have good, cheap meals. In the mornings you can have refillable hot drinks which if you have one of their (free) family cards are free.
Wow, I'd turn on my heels if you took me to one of those hideous places! Ikea is torture.0 -
