Seller phrases that annoy the hell out of you?

Went to a car boot on Sunday and passed a stall that was parked up next to a skip. Another carbooter had dumped some of his unwanted junk in it and left early, and so his neighbour was rummaging through the junk and sticking it on his own stall. I walked past mentally taking note of what he'd just taken from the skip. I then did a loop of the carboot and came back twenty minutes later. I picked up one of the items he'd salvaged and asked him how much it was. To which he proudly declared, "£3, it's brand new".

I hate that phrase, it's not brand new if you're selling it at a car boot, let alone if you've just pulled it from a skip.At the very least it needs to be in a sealed container/bag if you even want to mutter those words.

What seller phrases annoy you?

Not tested but worked previously or the last time i used it.

I presume the last time they used it was just before it stopped working.

Or not tested and selling for a friend.

Sorry but I actually hate much worse all the cr*p we get fed from Global size corporations in their advertising about the science bit, nano probes, tooth paste like star dust, does everything crap, epidermis pro vitimin B5 elastine that doesn't exist - apparently their products have "intelligent action" like there's little computers running round in your washing powder. I just wish the hogwash would stop.

Car booters, it's as good as new, is very honest in comparison.

So any ad with Carol Vorderman in then;)

"New improved" is one that is pretty annoying. Companies spend 12 months telling you that their product is unimprovable and then they suddenly manage it.

I used to love proper pitchers and their banter, sadly they seem to have disappeared these days. Cheap ornaments that were sold as "antiques of the future" was one of the more inspired.

I don't mind sellers saying something is brand new if it's unused and pristine (even if it has no packaging and might have been bought some time ago) but I've come across a few trying to claim something is "brand new" when it's quite obviously been machine washed several times.

It's been in storage for a while so may need freshening up / It has a few marks on it, but I'm sure they'll come out in the wash.

SO WASH IT FIRST YOU FILTHY BEGGAR!
  • People who sound really bonkers and a bit angry, by stating numerous paragraphs on every item for sale, mainly rambling stupid nonsense and those who make "their own rules" up such as wording that contains

"this is the postal charge do not bid if you disagree"
" I keep proof of posting but cannot be held responsible for lost items"
    "I do not accept Paypal"
"No bidders with less than 5 feedbacks to buy from me I will cancel the bids/the sale"

Other things that are bad ebaying are

Those stupid symbols on the header like <<L@@K>>
Bad spelling, lots of !!!!! after every word
Dark pics /blurred pics or worse, no pic

    Relating to cars...
    1)first to see will buy
    2)Lady owner
    3)Immaculate condition
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Personal use things that can ONLY be sold on ebay under the header NEW such as
    *underwear
    *cosmetics
    * food

they cannot be described as USED and how many times will you see someone whos emptied her big make up bag onto her bed and has umpteen moth eaten make up items and half empty jars of cream for sale , urghh that is yuk , half used and harbouring bacteria and off their shelf life, I have also seen SlimFast milkshake tins, "only one scoop used" ie seal broken, could have powdered glass inside or laxative powder ha you just would never risk it, and you are not allowed to sell used or opened food items but I expect I would find some listed just now if I was bored! In fact ,just found one right now item number 251264766387 an example of the bypassing the ebay rule!

People do find listing loopholes and sell their used items as new to try bypass the settings. It is desperate and wrong!

Agreed, and it's even funnier when there are loads of these apparently "rare" items on there.

Vintage is also overused at the moment. I'm sure I recall seing a vintage primart item recently...
