  • I use powder , usually Surf . I do buy other brands when there is an offer on . On the odd occasion the powder doesn't dissolve properly and there are white patches left on the clothes . It gets stuck together in the dispensing draw too , sometimes . I like to swap to have a change of fragrance .

I use liquitabs & always buy when they are on offer. I use to swear by powder but got fed up with the drawer area clogging up.

    Powder, liquid, liquitabs, tablets, gels?

    So many different types.

I have used most types but find myself going back to powder every time. Why? Cheaper, plus it dissolves so much better. However I am thinking about using liquid or gel as looking online, it would work out slightly cheaper than powder (by 6 washes). However I would be tempted to overuse the liquid.

I use Asda own brand for the powder as it gets my stuff clean as good as any other branded product.

What do you use and why?

I use the Asda SP. It's about the cheapest I know and perfectly adequate for my usage. I think I'll give the adding soda a whirl and the oxybleach. Any tips on where to buy them at best value?
  • Persil non-bio powder. And not very much of it. Clothes are perfectly clean, no clumping at the back of the drawer.
The best and cheapest way to get clothes to smell fresh is to hang them outside. And bizarrely, the colder it is the better! My neighbours think I'm mad - we had 6 inches of snow a few weeks ago, but I hung my washing out anyway. It started snowing again a couple of hours later, so I brought it back in. It wasn't dry, but any means - but it smelled fantastic!

If you have a DW, put the drawer in there for a wash periodically. Comes out gleaming!
